Well it happens! The main problem I see most running into as far as problem installs or updates is how the updates are now being delivered in contrast to how things were with 7, Vista, XP, 2000 etc. as far as going back to take notes on the stand alone versus Dual Platform OS we are now seeing.

How is that? Previously you could set it to full auto and not worry, download but let me choose when to install, check but let me choose when to download, and never as far as having 4 options to work with. Now we see two only being All or None! No option to hide any particular problem child but instead either take all or none being thrown at us due to wanting the WU touchscreen/tablet friendly. The drawbacks become obvious when people keep running into Intel or other 3rd party driver elements.

As for the MC Tool I never plan on using the first option to begin with but decided I would give that a try on the gathering collection of 10 desktops and laptops around here lately. UltraISO had been reliable now for several years whenever any iso including Linux not just Windows isos needed a flash drive. Not this time however. The 4 in 1 iso download was going to happen anyways and afterwards the iso download from the alternate site provided the dual iso downloads in both 32bit and separate 64bit flavors.

That will break things down a bit while the two other 8.1 to 10 laptops did see the update come in by WU as it should have. The Toshiba that came with 10 already on should have also seen it but that one will be seeing far less use however. That had been a fast replacement for another laptop that failed a month earlier

As for mounting the iso 7 also saw that ability being brought in while to partially only isolate Windows from the media when not able to boot live from removable for the routine upgrade type install the 3rd party option has so far been found reliable. The virtual drive created remains usable for mounting other image files afterwards until exiting the program which then closes the drive up. To close that up at any time simply right click and select the eject option.

Is the update timed through Windows Update. I noticed computers at the office or some of our sales reps haven't received the update yet even though Windows Update says up to date, I know the update is still out there, it just hasn't been found yet by the computer for it to be downloaded.

Updates aren't timed once out. Any timing would be the countdown until something is released. The first sight when looking in the WU will typically show the last time it was checked which is why you are seeing the up to date when it isn't.

You have to click it again to movitate a new check while in there. It will then come up in the WU as well as the latest Windows Defender update just seen. When going to update a 10 VM running the 14393 Insider build that also showed up to date until the new check decided to run and there it was along with the RS1!

The Windows 10 Anniversary Update will start rolling out to Windows 10 Mobile phones in the coming weeks.
    See: https://www.tenforums.com/windows-10-...10-mobile.html

Currently downloading, so it appears to be available now through Windows Update (not sure about carrier phones):

You will need to download it either by your locality's MC Tool or at the MS download page in ISO form and plan on mounting the iso image to see the upgrade to update type install take place manually. For all too many the RS1 update simply will not arrive automatically but seems to be more of an option you have to dig for. If you have been running Insider builds...

Surprise! The most recent builds are RS1 as well so the WU thinks the update is already installed and running. Fooled you! (MS smirking in the background about "they took the bait!") If you continue to wait and wait and wait and wait and wait and.... you may as Get insider builds running and go for the latest 14901 Insider Preview build. I may end up needing to do that all over again since JUST LIKE what was seen with the last Threshold 2 update only after a couple of months with it I found I couldn't name new or rename existing files and folder which appeared again only after only a week's time!

Hi everyone. I just tried to upgrade and toward the end of the download I received an error stating I didn't have enough disk space. I have 546 gigs available in C drive and 2.46 gigs available in D drive (recovery). Is it the lack of space in D that's causing this? It looks like it was being saved in both drives. I'm confused and far from an expert on computers so any advice is appreciated. I've had no previous issue with Windows 10 with either the initial upgrade to 10 or the update last fall.

    Thanks!

Apologies, the "Funny how you people keep running into these "stranger then science" issues " comment just rubbed me the wrong way I guess. It seemed to me you were dismissing the issues posted, that's all. I could have worded it better and been more polite. Again my apologies.

Thing is, you don't know there is an issue until it happens? I did the upgrade via Windows update, as one would, and I lost my 1 TB Data drive. Others did the same thing and had no issues. I didn't do anything out of the ordinary. Upgrades done with an ISO were problem free. So were my clean installs. I'm not going to tell everybody to not use Windows update just because one PC hiccupped on me. How is that a "stranger then science" issue?
