    Would appreciate some help.

Have a tablet with Windows 10 Home installed and a 32GB SSD.
Trying to install the Windows 10 Anniversary Update manually, but, having trouble.

The W10 Upgrade Assistant opens up, and confirms the CPU and Memory are OK, but warns of !Disk Space because 16GB are required, and only 13GB are available. The Tablet/Laptop (2 in 1) has a 32GB SSD, which is common for many tablets. Tried Disk Cleanup, but, there was not much in there to get rid of and provide the required space

How can one install any present or future Microsoft updates that come up if they require 16GB of space?

Thank you in advance for your assistance.

In disc cleanup try Deleting "windows files". It will delete windows updates files not needed or old windows versions. See if it helps.

Thanks for the info, Badelhas, obrigado! :)

    You are right!

I am an ol' habitual digger, and like an ol' dog with a bone, also looked for a place to bury this bone (get it solved).
One can also do this without Disk Cleanup.

It is my understanding that tablets with small drives (32 GB or less) store the previous update or version of Windows on the system disk. When there is a new Update, like the W10 Anniversary, (Version 1607 OS Build 14393.105) the old update/version of Windows (example, Version 1511 OS Build 10586.xxx ) is automatically deleted by Microsoft in about a month or so after the new Update. This will free up space.

To free up this space before Microsoft does it, one can do the following:

From the Windows key, open Settings, select System, and select Storage
Select your system drive shown right under Storage (normally the C: drive)
    Select: Temporary files
Under Previous version of Windows, select: Delete previous versions

    That also does it!

If you could go with a larger SSD that would be even bigger help in the long run where you could even start fresh with a clean install and have plenty of free space left available. You would first need to find out if the drive is able to be swapped out as you generally could see done on a laptop. You wouldn't want to break anything on one of those!

After a certain point of no return being the first 30 days the Windows.old simply takes up valuable space on any small drive and should be tossed since reverting backwards is then out of the question as far as going backwards to any previous build unless seeing a clean install of that.

If you should nuke the "$Windows~BT" and "~WS" folder if present the mounting of an iso download from a flash drive would then have the ability for a manual upgrade on the virtual optical drive with the extra drive space made available for the fresh extraction the setup files. 32gb however is still working with tight space without much of any wiggle room!

These iView tablets at a bear. Everything I sealed. Tried working on a dead 10" iView to try and revive it, and it was not possible.

    You lost me!
Do not see the "$Windows~BT" and "~WS" folders.

Also do not understand the comment that follows. Sorry...

If the protected system files are no longer being hidden the temp installation folders will be found at the very root of C. First however you would need to go into the File Explorer's menu bar>View>Options(on far right end) and open up the Options. You will then see the two options with the first being for change of the folder view and search options.

How to get the Windows 10 Anniversary Update-change-folder-view-settings.jpg

Once you have clicked on that option you then simply follow the instructions in the guide on how to show or hide the various protected files and folders with a few fast mouse clicks! Hidden Files, Folders, and Drives - Show in Windows 10 - Windows 10 Forums

Later once those are removed in order to free up the necessary drive space you can go back in and reverse the order of steps to an extent as the guide there explains to hide the protected items from view in order to prevent any accidental deletions or other possible mishaps.

The other suggestion about the Disk Cleanup tool of course would be the option for seeing the Windows.old folder if present taken care before and after the upgrade to update takes place. But reverting back from the Redstone 1 Anniversary update to the likely updated Threshold 2 update from last fall would need to see that left intact. That would only be in the case you decided not to keep the RS1 on however.
