Control Panel>Power Options>Choose what the power buttons do.

I checked and there were no settings at all, so I put them to - power button = shutdown and close the lid = hibernate.

Still, when I go Start/Shutdown, the laptop appears to shutdown all the way (and it says it is shutting down). Then, if I close the lid and open it back up, the thing starts up without me doing anything.

I have not changed anything - this is how the OS installed.

When I shut down, I wait until the laptop is completely off, and then I close the lid. How would the computer know the lid was shut if it was COMPLETELY shutdown?

In case anyone is interested - here was the problem - FAST STARTUP was enabled.

I didn't know it existed!

Is this build going to become official anytime soon, or is Microsoft going to skip it over for a better one?
