Windows 10 Technical Preview Build 10061 now available

Installed OK. Still wish they would display a spinner or movng dots to indicate the system has not crashed during the long pauses.
During latter stages cycling round the stectrum reminded me of my commodore 64 loading circa 1970's.

First test found that spartan could open a local html file when double clicked ( not in 10049) but cant drag and drop into spartan. Cant associate shtml files however but great improvement. testing in earnest to now be started.

Anyone know if the ISO has the install.wim image? I found a nice tool that creates a VHD, copies the image from the iso, and adds it to the boot menu. It has been around a couple of years. I just ran across it yesterday

Anyway, I tried it with Windows 2012 Server and after one error reboot, it came up and configured itself. I still haven't figured out how to get the WiFi to work. But at least the OS came up. :)

I tried it on Win 8.1 iso that ms downloads via the secure download tool or whatever it is. The program told me the 8.1 iso had no install.wim file in sources. So I'm still looking for stuff to VHDify. Windows 7 won't work. So I thought I'd try W10 if I can find it.

Just upgraded from 10049. I found a solution, that is pretty convenient for me for the known bug of apps don't open from start menu. If I click all apps and search for the app I want to open and click on it, it opens really well. I am tired of clean installs.

My main OS remains 8.1. I dual boot 8.1 with 10 on separate hard drives of 1TB each.

I did see that. I only had W10 VMs using VMWare Player. They were so slow on my Laptop I could barely run a browser. And that was after disabling touch screen and some other services. I'm looking more to run something that is directly bootable. Server 2012 I have no previous experience with it. But it was much less sluggish than W10 in a VM at least using Player. W10 on a VM on this system is just too fragile to work with. I took VMWare off as I mentioned to free up some space. On a desktop with some horsepower I'm sure it's another story. :)

The main annoyance now is the MBR/UEFI divide. If I still had a W7 machine I think it would be much easier. It is very frustrating because I can get Windows 7 to the Starting Windows screen and there it hangs. There aren't all that many UEFI enabled OS to mess with. Maybe I'll try booting some of the Linux variety.

I'm working on getting a W10 ISO. I just hope the effort isn't wasted. Doing all this prep just to take the thing off gets old. :)
