    Macrium Reflect Comments

Macrium allows you to add terse comments to your backup so it makes it easier to remember what was actually backed up etc. circumventing the need to rename the actual backup volumes.

Note: I have not tried this out yet.
    The Comment feature is handy.

Strange, TC. When it finally opened in Edge, I just did a Ctrl+S and saved it to my Manuals folder (on my external hard drive). Once there, I clicked on it to open and was asked how I wanted to open this file! PDF-Xchange was highlighted, but there were several other choices (that probably wouldn't have opened it), including Edge.

Once I had opened it in PDF-Xchange, I closed it and opened it again. The second time, it opened in PDF-X like it was supposed to.
Edge is still a work in progress at this point. Look how it took to get IE in working order after IE 6.0 proved to be a security nightmare! Couldn't wait back then for IE 7 to come along just to get out of IE 6.0! Others elected FF or some other browser back in those days.

Edge is also being moved around much further away from the desktop platform that has been pretty much the standard in use for all these years in order to satisfy the needs of the mobile platforms. That's the unfortunate side for the new browser when it will be found lacking many of the familiar options found with other browsers. You'll need to tweak your way around a bit. Have fun! :)

Macrium Reflect is a great program.

I'd suggest that people should create (and keep) a Master Backup Image of the OS + Updates without anything else in it (no drivers or programs).
This allows you to do a "clean" reinstall to which you can add the latest versions of the drivers/programs you use.
The Master Backup Image will be tiny, so you can easily store multiple copies.
I do this slightly differently. I install Windows clean, boot it to Audit Mode before creating the first initial user, update it, install my software which I want to be installed on all computers, then generalize the image with Sysprep making it totally hardware independent.

When done I create a Macrium image which can be restored to all my machines. It contains all software but no user accounts nor any drivers. Image size is relatively small.

Process is shown in this tutorial: Windows 10 Image - Customize in Audit Mode with Sysprep - Windows 10 Forums

Except that I rename my backups, and that confuses it.
I have noticed that not using default file names for images in some cases creates small issues; for instance if the image has not default name but I have renamed it, it does not always allow me to open the image as Hyper-V vm to update the image.

That's why I rather name the folders where I store Macrium images using their original default names. In my Macrium folder on external backup disk I have folders for PC 1, Laptop 2 and so on where I store the images from running systems.

I read your W7 tutorial about Audit Mode.

I always forget to try it when I do a clean install (just like 2 days ago).

Just one more tip if you decided to give it a go or test the method: use a virtual machine as technician machine. I use Hyper-V; I install a new build clean on Hyper-V vm, preparing my image on it. Fast and easy.

The two videos in tutorial I linked to show the process using Hyper-V vm.

    Hi,

That's how I do it as well. Makes it so much easier when you have multiple systems to keep up to date.

    Cheers,

You are running into a different type of preview being seen there. Of course the edition of 10 you are running would expect to be seeing some differences due to location as well as language. Are you running the 10 or 10KN or 10N for example?
