That thread is there to show / tell about Macrium Reflect updates. When new updates are released they are announced in that thread. Subscribing to it you will get a notification when new updates are available.

Even if you use free version, you get notified of new release at time of use after a new release.

I know it, you know it, every Macrium user should know that. That's not the point, that's not why I posted what I posted.

@Cliff S told he will post in Macrium Update thread as soon as a new update will be released, another member replied saying last post in that thread is four weeks old. I tried to explain why the thread exists and that subscribing to that thread he / she will get notifications about new posts about available updates.

Not all users launch Macrium every day to see if there's a new update, but quite a many of us log in to Ten Forums daily. The thread in question might be the first source to learn about updates for quite a many members.

I didn't take it in any negative way. I only explained why I posted what I posted.

2 cents..... at the time you are trying to get a backup done can be, and usually is, a very inconvenient time to be messing with an update. Especially if you need to re-do a Rescue thumb or DVD or re-add it to the boot menu. The notification here in Cliff's thread is a heads-up so you have the opportunity to put it all in order at your leisure, not at the time you're trying to get a backup done.

    better get back OT......

If you make a complete image backup now, and store it on an external drive, or a 2nd drive, using a program like Macrium Reflect Free version, then yes you can delete that windows.old folder, using Disk Cleaner ....but you should always make your image backups, incase sometimes happens to your OS, you can quickly restore it back.
