Since the number will change from 1511 to 1607 that should properly be called a Version Upgrade as has been the history of newer versions for quite some time. Doing the Upgrade on more than 30 computers from the first version last July to 1511 in November has never deleted the files and programs on those computers except for a few programs that simply won't run on Win10. Doing a Clean Install will delete everything from the HDD/Hard Disk Drive [or SSD if using that].

    Hi,

Sure. It is the exact same thing.
In fact I installed 14393.0 on two separate devices which were not or have ever been on the Fast Ring and lo and behold WU updated them the next day to version .5.
WU won't do that if the Insider version isn't identical to the Anniversary version.

    Cheers,
If you had been on the Fast ring you should have been seeing the 14393.5 build by this time. Meanwhile Engadget has a video about the RS1 update not quite being about what you would think it would be as far as what improvements are seen. In competition to beat out the Fruit company you won't want to miss the video they posted. Windows 10's Anniversary Update makes a great OS better

    Hello all

I have few questions about this Anniversary Update.
First - Where i can download x64bit ISO Windows 10 PRO Build 14393.X ? I need it because i afraid , when MS starting update proces and something can be easily break it.
I haven't been paying attention to whether there's an ISO of Build 14393 yet, but since it's been released to the Slow Ring, there could be one running around. There will be an ISO available on August 2.

If you choose to update, all your programs will stay intact.

Third - Someone already has this anniversary update sucessfully updated ? Not clean install.
I'm pretty sure no one has the anniversary update installed yet, unless they're a Microsofty. However, we Windows Insiders who are running Build 14393.5 essentially have the Anniversary Edition by virtue of being an Insider.

Which version of Windows 10 are you running now?

No, I meant it exactly as I wrote it as it actually proves the Insider Preview effectively is the Anniversary build,. One and the same.

If you had been on the Fast ring you should have been seeing the 14393.5 build by this time.
Of course. But in order to install on other machines I had to use the 14393.0 ISO.
To my surprise these updated themselves too to version 0.5. Without them being joined to the Insider program.
    That's the point here.

Fdegrove installed installed Build 14393.0 and then sat back and let it update to 14393.5. So, I believe he saw it at the appropriate time.

No one is running the actual General release form of the RS1 anniversary update at this time since the final version of that hasn't even been uploaded to the MS servers! The latest and last build until then would either the November 12, 2015 update with all subsequent updates rolled into it being the 10585.499 version 1511 or the last Insider being the 14393.5 which immediately followed the 14393 the day after last week.

The Threshold 2 update last year saw a predacessor two weeks before that BUT! wasn't the general releaase itself either. The gap between Insider and GRelease allows for any last minuted repairs before seeing the release go totally public for all.

The Redstone 1 builds will see version 1607 not version 1511 from last November. Not being on the Fast ring and receiving Insider builds you are still running the TH2 update despite the addition of all of the loose updates since. The Anniversary update is the next major update for everyone there in a few days. While both builds here will see it the main will be keeping it on while the second desktop designated for testing will continue onto the next Insider build from there. Once I make a full image of how the RS1 update goes that is!
