One guaranteed method for preventing anything from going on while you are away would simply be "Shutdown Time" where you give the two systems a break at the same time not leaving anything unattended. The update would then arrive later once you fired them back up and made the check.
MC Tool? You may find out that the MC Tool will no longer be available since the free upgrade offer expires on tomorrow the 29th at 7:59pm Redding/MS local time. That was to simplify getting people to try 10 out as well as being a method to grab the free upgrade offer while now with the offer ending paid for downloads only would likely be what will be seen for the RS1 as far as availability unless by way of Insider Preview.
Here I have been wondering if that would be the case or not but we won't know for sure until the offer expires and the update is out as to whether or not the update will be available as a separate download in ISO form or by WU only besides direct online or dvd media purchase. First I will left the RS1 go on here as the update and then see if a clean install will be needed as far as the 10 side of the dual boot goes or it takes wirhout any "Ut oooohs..."?!

They didn't take the Windows 8.1 MCT down , or the Windows 7 MCT down? Why take the Windows 10 MCT down?

EDIT: It will likely be revamped, but I don't think they will take it down.
TBH, I doubt that I'll bother with it. Probably stay on build 10586, or even go back
to the still-superior Win 8.1.1 - with MS updates turned OFF, as has long been the
case with my Win 7 machine.
My interest in computing remains unscathed, but my love of beta-testing and my
liking for MS products have both plummeted since Win 10 arrived, as evidenced
by the fact that I long-ago ceased being an 'Insider' and now seldom even bother
to read about Windows in the tech press. Even when I come here, it's mainly to
check-out the sigs and artwork of other members and catch up on gossip, rather
than any real interest in or love of Win 10.
Even the phone - my much-loved Windows phone (Nokia 520 with WP 8.1) began
to fail, and was replaced - with an Android, because I do NOT want Win 10 on my
phone.
It was fun while it lasted, but...
Wenda.
MS has been doing things a bit differently with 10 in comparison to what has been the usual options for the previous versions. I can see the MCT still being available as it has been for TechNet and MSDN subscribers as always but no longer simply being readily available for downloading 10 without now after July 29 being a license bought with download type transaction with the end of the free upgrade offer. The free upgrade to 10 offer itself was a first for MS as far as the OS portion of their softwares go.
People are still going to want to do clean installs and people are still going to want to install the latest version when they do. Also people are going to buy new computers with Windows 10 and then something is going to happen and they need to re-install Windows 10 and won't have an install media to do it with. The Windows 10 MCT isn't going anywhere - just like the Windows 7 and Windows 8.1 MCTs haven't gone anywhere.
I'm putting my money on the fact that if one already has Windows 10 on their machine, the MCT will still be available for download simply because of ongoing Builds for Insiders or that someone will want to do a clean install.
Even if I were to have the Anniversary Edition on my computer, by virtue of having been an Insider, I can change my Update and Security Options to Insider.
Edit: I also know that if someone downloads the full version thinking to install it on their computer, that unless they have a valid product key, it won't go past the request for the key. Which brings another thought to mind. What if I could buy the product key from Newegg (or another retailer) and then be instructed to download the MCT?
Funny thing is my name is Rock and my wife's name is Doris; we are Rock and Doris. We have a nice little collection of movie posters and stuff that say Rock and Doris.
