Announcing May feature updates for Office 2016 for Office 365

UPDATE: On June 14, 2016, we released an update for Office 2016. The current version is 16.0.6965.2058. This update contains features in the May feature update described below, plus new security and non-security updates. To find out more, go to our release notes page, and under Channel, click Current.


ORIGINAL POST: The May update for Office 2016 was released on June 6, 2016. The version number is 16.0.6965.2053. To get the update immediately, open any Office 2016 app and choose File > Account > Update Options >Update Now.



In this update, you'll find the following features:


•AutoCAD support in Visio: You can now import AutoCAD 2010 and 2013 files faster and more reliably. You can also add shapes and elements as well as overlay additional data on your layouts and designs. These capabilities make facilities and space management a breeze.


•Improvements in Get & Transform: Excel 2016 provides a powerful set of capabilities for fast, easy data gathering and shaping, which is available under the Get & Transform section on the Data ribbon. In this update, it's now easier to create a query using options from the new Online Services category, including connectors for SharePoint Online and Exchange.


•Send messages anytime: If you use Skype for Business, you'll no longer receive "this message can't be delivered" notifications when you send a message to someone who is offline. Instead, you'll see this:



More efficient online meetings: In Outlook, you can now pre-load attachments to Skype for Business meetings so that you can get started immediately. The attachments will show up in the meeting window automatically when the first participant joins the meeting.
