Windows 10 build 10056 has leaked

Ah, so it doesn't download anything, right ? Seeing the error message I thought it downloaded the ESD file but it was unable to install it. My fault then.
Nick, what has happened is that Microsoft has blocked Build 10061 from installing if a leaked build is installed. In this case, Build 10056.
What I think is happening is that there's a line of code that checks for the latest build number and if it's not an "official" build number, Windows 10 v.nextversion will immediately back out and won't even let us capture the Install.ESD file.

Yes, I'm on the fast track. I almost upgraded to 10056 in a VM this morning but the download from the link I used had a error when I tried to extract the rare file.

I normally don't install leaks, but so many were installing that I broke my cardinal rule a second time! Now I have to go back or lose out on the next build.

But the difference is, I have both 10049 & 10056 installed on sepatate drives. In my case, I have no "going back" to do because I installed them separately. Although I can't try that 10061 if it is indeed an update because I am in the office. :)

I still have 9926 on one of my laptops! :) That should be interesting!
Too bad . . . Sometimes retirement sucks, but not today if indeed Build 10061 is coming out.

What are you still doing with 9926? Wipe it out. There's an official ISO for 10041. :)

I went to the Insider page to download the ISO and only 9926 was available.
Anyhoo, I think the upgrade will skip everything in between the current build on the machine and the latest build from MS. At least it does that in another beta I'm on.

Ha! I just checked the external hard drive and there's the ISO of Build 10041!

Yeah! This was my first try installing a leaked version. I even installed the latest version of VMware Player. It didn't work so I deleted it.
