Before trying your suggestion I was thinking along the same line as the upgrade being stuck so I tried restarting the computer and that didn't work. Hitting the X not only worked to upgrade the Store I had three other updates that showed up.

Same here, like it cleared a logjam!

Opened Store...clicked on my Picture (left of Search box),,,,all updated immediately except Store which could not be updated whilst open....shut down Store....reopened Store which showed link to click on to update Store....this closed store and updated leaving confirmation in Action Centre.
