Well.. I don't want to argue either but here are some things that using the command line/power shell are necessary to getting some things done.

First example, Installing Beautiful-Soup for Python. There is no other way to get this job done than using the command prompt/power shell

I cut my teeth on OS9 (not the Apple/Mac version) command lines and although I never got that great with it, it did prepare me for DOS when I decided to give up my CoCo (Tandy Color Computer) for a PC that all my tech friends were using.

I was there for the beginning of Windows 3.0, along with all its bugs and crashes. A reboot several times per day was the norm, not the exception. Then came Windows 3.1 (both versions) which was somewhat better. I've been there every step of the way (along with its inherent crashes and bugs) to Windows 10. Beginning with Vista, the crashes and bugs were fewer, but still there and even less in Windows 7.

Windows 8.0 was a huge setback for me, but I got used to Windows 8.1, although it took three days to land on the app I wanted to use.

Today, although I'm a tech, I'm mostly a hardware tech. I am, however, comfortable using both my mouse and the command line if I need to.

I have essentially ignored PowerShell since I've been an Insider, but for some reason, I finally decided to look into installing a bunch of apps all at once. And, boy am I glad I did!

I will also be exploring other possibilities in PowerShell. Partly because I like learning new things and partly because I can see the convenience of using both parts of Windows; the GUI and the Command Line.

We kinda all have similar history, except one or two things. I never get into OS-anything, although i was very close to OS2 (almost).

Started with IBM 1130 as a student, then VAX, Delta and after that PCs. Not for primary thing, just as a tech guy. Windows 3.11 were the first , that we could comfortably work with :)

Still, I'm not much of a command line person anymore. Man has to know exactly what to type :), and with PShell there is a lot to learn. But I can see a lot of potential for real power user to code a line or two for us who don't have enough time to learn details. And just send us a cmdlet.

You could prepare us a script to install it in one line. And a self destructive one, too.

Not yet Wynona. I still have a job to do. And so little time. Not that I wouldn't like to. :)

Since I only need to do that one time I find it easier to just do it that way. It only takes about a minute to work my way there and execute the setup command.
