Anyone else getting this pop up at all? It never happened on 9926 or earlier, but happens now almost every time I try to start up UPlay or a game that launches via UPlay.

My system "updated" the Synaptics touchpad driver, which MS says was supplied by either Lenovo or synaptics, I forget which. I found several unwanted changes, which went away when I did a restore to just before the driver change. One problem was the nice thumbs which pop up when you mouse over an open app icon in the taskbar immediately disappeared and reappeared repeatedly, making the feature useless. The change also killed the function key on this machine which turns off the touchpad at will, causing me to turn it off in the mouse settings. Things seem to be back to the new "normal" for build 10041, but I expect will deteriorate again as soon as the update kicks in.
So: is there any way I can prevent this driver update that I don't want, or am I just at the mercy of the update process?
    TIA, George

For those going for a clean install, here's how to do it using a local account (Step 17 in tutorial for clean install):

When asked Who owns this PC, select This device belongs to me:

    FINALLY!
After looking till my eyeballs hurt, I found a web site where I could download the ISO of Windows 10, TP, 10041.

I downloaded it this morning, burned the ISO to a DVD and then installed it on a 9 yr old eMachine, with an AMD Single core cpu, and two GB of DDR ram, on a SATA I motherboard.

There was one little hicckup early on in the install, but after that everything went off like clockwork.

I really didn't like the so-called start menu, so as per usual, I installed the Classic Shell and from then on the rest of the install was pretty much like 8.1.

At last! Success at last! It's beautiful!

Although Microsoft released a new build of the Windows 10 Technical Preview earlier in the week, it only made it available to Windows Insiders on the Fast ring, and through Windows Update. It’s not officially available as an ISO image yet (Microsoft currently only offers downloads for Build 9926).

However, it is possible to grab an ISO of the new build through unofficial channels.
This ISO was created using Windows Update files from Build 9926 (the setup files are genuine and it’s perfectly safe) and it’s hosted on Mega.

You can download the 32-bit ISO from here, and the 64-bit version from here.

Hi Kari -- even easier method -- simply install with INTERNET disconnected -- then there's absolutely NO mention of signing in to Ms account. You'll get Other User first time while installing - but then the normal local account works just fine the next time you re-boot. Then you can re-connect the Internet again.

    Cheers
