Hi Kari -- even easier method -- simply install with INTERNET disconnected -- then there's absolutely NO mention of signing in to Ms account. You'll get Other User first time while installing - but then the normal local account works just fine the next time you re-boot. Then you can re-connect the Internet again.

    Cheers

Yes, this is what I did, installed without the Internet connection.

using my win 8.1 it wouldn't let me download it from Mega ,said not compatible with IE and said I needed a more up to date browser to download bigger than 1gig file ,lol BS ,I use ie 11 all the time to downloas iso from Microsoft ,I only use IE11 and will not install any other browser on my computer ,I don't really need the iso anyway ,
It must be a browser "Ideology thing", I'm downloading it now but had to switch to Chrome(my backup browser in case of problems with IE).

You can also create the ISO by yourself from the ESD file already on your computer after an upgrade to 10041: ESD to ISO - Create Bootable ISO from Windows 10 ESD File - Windows 10 Forums

I know that. It's just that quite a many users are lazy and practical like me; three mouse clicks when the computer is connected to Internet while installing vs. going under the table to get the Ethernet cable disconnected only to avoid these three mouse clicks. My choice is clear.

Besides that, the screenshot also show the new face of signing in using a Microsoft account or signing up for one.

I saw your tutorial, the problem is 10TP does not update or upgrade when using a surfstick even when I set it to not metered(it's hard coded I even tried to free it in the registry but It won't let me). I posted in my mobile broadband thread today. So I went the dangerous routs and downloaded the ISO someone put up at Mega(I posted it in another thread for people with the same problem like me). It came up clean on Malwarebytes and Defender and MRT. I'm doing a clean install right now.

    Hi there

Disconnected at the ROUTER / cable box end !!!!!! easier than crawling under furniture to unplug LAN cables from computer boxes !!!! or just POWER OFF the Router / Box.

For others though with WIFI simply disconnect via Software in the Wifi icon.

Jimbo, I repeat: three mouse clicks :).

No way I am going to cut the Internet access from all devices when installing Windows on one.

True but worth mentioning that it works. I have no choice but to install without internet access as I don't have an ethernet port and Wifi doesn't work until I install the driver which I have to do after installing.

    A valid point.

I do that when creating my install images on a virtual machine but only because Sysprep only works when installation is done without network connection until you reach the Audit Mode desktop, at which point it's OK to connect and download / install software.

When I then install (deploy) using these self made customized images, the connection is enabled and I just need those three mouse clicks if going for a local account.

    Hi there

Was just saying depending on how you have cabling etc set up in your place that there are plenty of fairly easy ways to remove internet temporarily.

For some obviously not worth doing but for others it possibly is an easier way than delving under furniture to remove a LAN cable. I have some "headless" Linux media servers in fairly inaccessible wardrobes / "closets" etc -- a couple of these I haven't even touched or booted for probably at least a year and I'm certainly not climbing on wobbly step ladders to get access to their LAN cables !!!!!.

I'm also not as young as I once was so messing around crawling on floors etc doesn't appeal to me either anymore !!!!

I'm lucky in the sense that all the Internet connections in my place are routed through a Linux gateway on one of my servers - I just temporarily blocked the PC's IP address using the gateway. I could logon to the server using another laptop.

    Cheers
