My main issue too, emphasis on the word exactly. I hope options are not put aside for the sake of the more simplistic interface of the Settings app.

Here's a treat: unzip the folder, unblock it and have fun with the pseudo Control Panel. I have more shortcuts to build, but this is as far as I went (shiny things distract me and the 12 logs in the fire are burning bright)

Absolutely. Also, most of the instructions I run across any more say: Click/tap this or that button . . .

I get along quite well with my mouse and keyboard; in fact, my RCA 11.6" Android tablet now owns its own keyboard and mouse because I hate having to touch the screen. My cell phone has a stylus and I may even see if I can stick it on the RCA's keyboard, which has room for three Bluetooth devices. Of course, this would be just to see if it can be done. :)

I guess I am going in the same direction. I have a beautiful touchscreen, but still find it more convenient to click and point with the mouse, held permanently in my hand. Old habits perhaps.

To each his own, Indiana, but for me, the mouse works just as well in Windows 10 as it did in Windows 7 or 8.1. As to the keyboard, there's no comparison between the on-screen and physical keyboard. :)

I liked Vista from the outset and Windows 7 was a total improvement over Vista. I tested both from the Alpha stage and both were completely usable. The only problem with Vista was that Marketing wouldn't allow the devs to work out the final bugs; thus, it got a bad rep. Service Pack 1 wasn't quick enough to control the damage done by the media. To a lesser extent, Windows 7 was released a bit early; however, the media didn't pan it as badly. The rest is history, as they say.

Just as I adapted to Windows 8/8.1, so I will adapt to Windows 10. Would I have adapted as readily if I hadn't first worked with Windows 8/8.1? Who knows, but I like Windows 10 much better than Windows 7 or 8.1. It's faster and easier to understand, even with Control Panel vs Settings. :)

Give Windows 10 half a chance, and when the time comes, I'd bet ya a nickel that you'll upgrade.

Agreed - when I said 'Desktop" I meant to include the traditional laptops too. And I wonder how many laptops with touch are really used with touch. We have one laptop with a touch screen but I think that was never touched. We (my wife and I) do everything with the pad or a BT mouse.
