Should I try Repair Install Windows 10 with an In-place Upgrade - Windows 10 Forums now?

Yes because you wont lose any folders or lose anything
    Read it through ok
    OK

Here is what I did: I tried to to the Repair Install Windows 10 with an In-place Upgrade but there is a option to check for updates should I avoid it since the latest ones are giving me problems or use it and since it's a repair install it will not give me the same problems I had before?

    Also in this screen:

KB3147458 Cumulative Update build 10586.21 for Windows 10 Version 1511-31435d1439614770-repair-install-windows-10-place-upgrade-windows_10_repair_install-8.png

Windows 10 only let me choose nothing! I'm not a expert but I guess I need to launch the win setup with administration rights? Since I'm not sure about my updates doubt above I will wait for someone clear my doubts first.

EDIT: Found a english image on google since my system is in Portuguese:

KB3147458 Cumulative Update build 10586.21 for Windows 10 Version 1511-o2yazjw.jpg

Thanks a lot in advance friends!

    To Needhelpwithwin,

It only allows you to keep nothing because you had downloaded the WRONG Windows 10 iso file.

You must download the same Windows Edition, same Language and same bit version you computer is now running.
Please go back to the iso download link you were using and start over again.

Because the forum is full of noobs. Problem is caused by some other issues(rather they screw up something which they don't know) and they blame updates for it.I maintain around 30 computers in my lab and not a single computer gets an issue with the updates.
Common complaints are like updates caused the icons to auto arrange and deleted everything from the computer.
On this site, people are somewhat more technical.
Agree with you there I also look after loads of laptops/desktop computers and have not had one single problem with any of them.
I keep BIOS and drivers updated and so far not one upgrade or update has messed anything up

That was my fear! In fact I'm using the exactly same version! I download it from Microsoft site and build a flash drive with it.

After the installation I needed the flash drive for something else so I copied all the windows 10 files to a folder in another PC and let them there as a backup. Now that I need it again I copied back all the files to the same flash drive to do this repair! I don't think so but can this be the problem?

    Needhelpwithwin,
Use the Tech Bench link below and download the most current Windows 10 iso file
( note : I suspect your USB contains the old Win 10 version 10240. Current version is 10586 ).

    https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/soft...brrWLRbagYCa0w

Make sure you select the same Win 10 edition, language and bit version.
You do NOT need to burn it to an USB or DVD right now. You can do that later.

Once the iso is downloaded > right click at it > click Mount > click Setup.exe.
    Installation will begin.
    Let it check for updates.
    No product key is required.
    Activation will be automatic.

After this update there are 2 Event Viewer errors each time I press the Windows key to bring up the start menu --> Power --> Restart:

Event ID 7031: The State Repository Service service terminated unexpectedly. It has done this 1 time(s). The following corrective action will be taken in 120000 milliseconds: Restart the service.

No errors detected after running sfc / scannow. If restarting using the command "shutdown /r /t 0" there are no errors. State Repository has something to do with the start menu (already disabled all live tiles so that's not the problem either).
    Hi. Same IDENTICAL problem here.
After the update every time I shutdown/restart my PC I get some svchost and esent.dll related errors.

svchost (2072) Terminating process due to non-recoverable failure: PV: 10.0.10586.0 SV: 10.0.10586.0 GLE: 0 ERR: -1603(fucb.cxx:359): dllentry.cxx(103) (ESENT[10.0.10586.0] RETAIL RTM MBCS)

I already tried launch sfc /scannow and dism's scanhealth but it didn't find any corruption. Please help me!

Thanks a lot for your time and patience! Sorry to being such a noob :)

I'm getting this new version using my affected PC! Firefox is launching OK and I'm downloading a file named: Win10_1511_1_BrazilianPortuguese_x64 this 1511.1 is alright? My system info says I'm in 10586 version. Sorry again for being a noob but I don't have a good internet connection and I want to make it right this time :)

Another thing: When I do the repairs KB3147458 will be installed but this time it will be without problems?

    Download looks ok.

No guarantee how KBKB3147458 will behave in your computer.
I have no answer for that.

    adding...................
Your system says you have version 10586.
Question is : what version is in your USB flash drive ? I suspect it is 10240.
But it does not matter now. Just download the current version from Tech Bench and use it instead.

Oh yeah why it does not say Home edition in there? I can choose in the instalation?

They gave me options like Windows 10, KN, N and single language I choose the Windows 10(first option)!

If there is no guarantee would it not be good to install it without any updates and that way I can avoid KB3147458?

Yes. You chose the right one.
Windows 10 includes both the Home and Pro versions.
When you start installing, the system will pick the correct edition your computer is currently running, which, in your case, will be Home edition.
