RAW sockets are not supported in the bash shell (at least in this version) and ping/tracert etc... from bash do not work without it and you also can't use tools like MTR and nmap since both also use RAW sockets on linux (hopefully they'll fix that!)
I should note that Windows supports RAW sockets but the required syscalls are not yet implemented for the Linux subsystem for use by Linux processes.
You can run commands like "wget google.com" to download internet resources and "apt-get update" to update the already installed packages or "apt-get install" to download new packages from the internet with no problem - same thing for someone above whom was using ssh to connect to servers without any issues.
For example, run the following bash command to install a package from the internet:
apt-get install cmatrix
