haha, I just like how Edge was built. I have all other browsers on my system right now (Opera, Chrome, IE, and Firefox, maybe there are more I need to try?) and Edge is the number 1 on my list.

    My top 4:
    1. Edge
    2. IE
    3. Chrome
    4. Firefox & Opera

You have to understand my customer set to understand why I do this. Many times I come to work in the morning and there is a computer sitting there with a name and a phone number. In most cases I recognize the name, but not always. If I don't know what they want done I'll call them and ask. Most of them have Chrome because it was forced on them one way or another.

When I'm done with their computer and they come to pick it up I do ask them what browser they prefer, what they want for their home page, most say huh??? The vast majority equate a browser to internet ... "I just want to use my internet".

Chrome is a pig, it eats resources and degrades performance.

Oh, and one other thing. Most of the computers I work on are still running XP. I get a few Vistas or Win 7s but 0 Win 8s or 10s. These people don't have the money to spend for a new computer.

Maybe Firefox is OK on them old dogs it's a real decent browser anyway and Chrome does like memory and CPU cycles with lots of tabs open or just a few sometimes especially at page loading but maybe better communication and a check list at the early bird proximity drop space or walk in's would help?

do you at lest export an HTML bookmark file out of the browsers you remove so someone can configure an alternative browser to what they had ?
oh....and 32 bit Chrome is an option for those old dogs anyway but it likes resources also and when F/F starts running separate processes for each browsing tab like the others ...........Poof its suddenly a resource hog too! .

TBH hopefully your bench work is better than maybe it seems tour customer skills might be

I do not charge for my time, only for any parts I have to replace.

I run the computer repair and resale part or my church's thrift store. Donated computers are cleaned up, in most cases formatted and reinstalled and a minimal set of programs (my choice) installed then I sell them cheap, sometime give them away.

I've worked on several thousand computers over the last 11 years there and I cannot remember a single instance when one of these people complained because I removed Chrome or other software. They want a computer that works with reasonable response and that's what I give them.

For those that are a bit more savvy I'll work with them but I will still and always recommend removing all things Google. If they insist then I'll leave it but upgrade to the latest version.

"Chrome is a pig, it eats resources and degrades performance." --> I SO agree! I agree with your whole message. That last paragraph / sentence... Why don't they take advantage of the free upgrade offer from Windows 7 to Window 10? But those computers that have XP shouldn't be running, they should have been upgraded two years ago But that's fine if your work wants them, and has more vulnerability to security risks and hacks :) Then that's might fine with me

Btw, do you build computers for a living? How much do you get by the hour? I am wanting to start like a computer building business in the future for people, I just need to figure out where to price. :)

How U upgrade to windows 10 like 2 years ago .......all that must have slipped by me

OTOH a legitimate non profit can maybe get a local or federal or private industry sponsor /grant or maybe something out of Microsoft for these old dogs and OS upgrade product keys (at least ) out of XP or Vista
