14291 Been running strong ,fast and rock solid stable about 24+ hours here now . That's more like it 14279 was unstable and poorly performing here and won't be missed .

14291 is even playing real nice and stable with Chrome X64 now here so it's back in the usual default browser spot .

I haven't run the 14291 Passmark HDD and memory throughput benchmarks against Win 7 x64sp1 yet .

I haven't seen a Windows 10 build yet that can beat Win 7 x64 on *those benchmarks* and not by a small amount but Windows 10 otherwise feels as fast or faster than 7 x64 when it's behaving and 14291 feels like the fastest Win 10 build yet here .:)

PS I'm keeping a copy of a 14291 ISO from the 14291 install ESD in case another test build ends up like 14279 or worse

Hmmm, resolved. I stopped and started the following services:

Background Intelligence transfer, Windows update & Cryptographic Service

per this thread: Get Insider Builds -- Error 0x80070005 - Microsoft Community

Also ran DISM and SFC, no probs found.

Re-ran Check for updates and now it's working and in the download process.

The remote pc here updated in only 10 minutes! I went to look back at how the upgrade by update was going and no need to even sign in again since it was already at the desktop! The W10 Home VM second VM prompting for restart to the most recent Pro VM still downloading since each already saw the latest right there for download in contrast to the lengthy wait not on the last but 14257!

As for the "Fix me" error I haven't had any problems getting past that having run into it on both VM and early on with the main The one thing again being noticed now on the 10 Home at 87% is how this build is flying on compared to others. And that is with both running together as well as having updated the remote. The main comes last as always!

As for the 14279 not one iota as that was used to replace the Threshold 2 update on the main build which did get buggy when no longer able to rename folders! The TH2 install there followed the 10586 Insider which had followed the OEM dvd install following the Black Friday special on 10. The TH2 VM however stalled on impact! That however is reserved for a 10 VM on the 7 side of the dual boot when needing to take a look at something in 10 while the remote pc is still available there as well. Have to keep things covered!

For simply seeing what this one has which has been Edge extensions mainly from the first looks here you could set up a VM and let that upgrade from the TH2 download from Tech Bench and enabling the Get insider builds option there. Been doing that already for months with each newer build going on without fuss with the exception of the 14257 taking longer then usual.

One project planned since this came along will be just that setting a brand VM taking everything step by step from the MC tool download to a folder to setting up a new VM and allowing that to see the upgrade take place.

I have to admit it's hard to get used to this:

    Known issues for PC

    • If you use Hyper-V and have a Virtual Switch configured for your network adapter, you may see an error indicator (red-colored “X”) for your network adapter in the notification area of your taskbar. The error indicator is incorrect and your network adapter should continue to work just fine.
It looks weird. My small brain swim in whisky making me forget things, several times already I have noticed that red X and in panic gone to network settings only to see there are no issues. My Taskbar is vertical at left, hence the odd looking screenshot:
