Must be nice being rich .....or to have good credit rating.

I'm just saying. I am not gonna get 1TBs. Haha.
    Probably 10 120TBs. And I am halfway there... :)

On that note you'll be able to relate to a larger ssd and it should read allot faster whether it's for just personal files or both os...,
Most of the issue is price so if anyone can get past that I don't see any advantage now days for using hdd's for anything 5200 or 7200 ssd's are better and create less heat,
Brands well that is a toss up :)
I like crucial but most people like Samsung's.
I was thinking this one: Crucial.com - Crucial MX200 SSD product information it's a bit more expensive than Kingston but cheaper than 850EVO.

For your purpose John, speed is really of utmost importance. I would do the same. For most of us who are just regular users and testers, it's a different story. :)
    Very true,
Although testing everything on an ssd might cloud real life for others but is a good test none the less,
Real world not allot of machine come with ssd's so they would experience a different performance result,
For 10tp I started out on an ssd and never had any issues,

Once I switched to a hdd it got bricked,
So possibly a ssd would be best but hdd's are disposable they're so cheap

If you have a SATA3 system or planning to upgrade soon that's really a nice specs. With SATA2 mobo, you will barely reach 300MB/s.
    Good choice there.

Yes, it's SATA 3 (600) on 6 channels, SATA2 on 4 and eSATA on 4. This MB is full of stuff, even PATA. Floppy, 2xCOM and 1 printer port, that's why I'm hanging to it and not going for FX8xxx. 7.1 sound, firewire, USB2 and 3, everything but SCSI of which I have a bunch but are small. 7.4 GB. You ask for it, this MB has it (well almost). Even if I change platform, I will keep it as a workhorse.

Was that in reply to a specific post?

    Hi there

Yes - about the possible idea of using new technology FIXED storage -- i.e the storage is fixed to the MOBO rather like the chipset is today.

    Cheers

That's already done in small devices like phones etc. VLSI printed straight on the board.

512 is a waste. You only need 120GB. You don't really wanna mix your OS/programs and data. Put data on spinners. It's a lot easier and faster to fix a PC when data is separate. Image takes only 5 mins to complete, and a decision to clean install isn't hard to make. :)

    I have a 240gb that I switched with 120gb. I am using the 240gb as a test drive now.
I'm planning a triple-boot system with Win8.1, Win10 and Ubuntu 14.10; moreover I intend to install all my production/scientific softwares and dozens of games on Windows 10 RTM. So it won't be a waste anyway... My work data and personal files will be kept in my big spinners, of course.
