Cumulative Update for Windows 10 Version 1511 KB3140743
-
Hello Everyone,
I cannot seem to update my computer via KB3140743. I have tried doing this from Windows Update and the standalone installer. It appears that it is working but when I restart the computer it eventually says that the update failed to install and undoes whatever changes it has made. I am not sure where to look to get more information. The other update that came today did install (KB3139907).
I am running windows 10 Pro - 64-bit. If you want other system specs let me know. I never have had an issue with an update not installing since I upgraded.
Thanks for any assistance you can provide.
Hi mpoffo and welcome to Tenforums.
Perhaps you can start by running sfc /scannow to make sure your system files are intact.

Hi mpoffo and welcome to Tenforums.
Perhaps you can start by running
sfc /scannow to make sure your system files are intact.
Thanks for the suggestion. I did do a scan and it indicated that it found some errors and corrected them. However this has not resolved the issue that I am having. Anymore thoughts or suggestions?
Thanks
Mark

I would suggest running DISM then and see and reply back with the result.

Interesting, as I USED to have the same problem with opencl.dll, actually we use to talk about this a lot few months back. BUT since Nvidia's last 2 driver updates, my opencl problem has GONE. I have taken screen shots over the past 2 months, on when it was giving me problems, and now, when it does not. sfc /scannow runs without finding ANY errors after updating with the last 2 Nvidia update releases. Latest one was today. The way Nvidia installs the opencl.dll files has changed, in the last 2 updates. At least for me. I just thought it was the same for everyone else. I guess not. But the problem seems fixed for me.
Well it is not fixed for me and I am on the latest NVidia drivers for my GTX 970.
People should not be trying to fix this or it will overwrite the opencl provided by NVidia which is not what you want to happen.

Update was quick and easy but it changed the fonts in the drop down menus in Chrome. Not a biggie except even in Chrome settings I can't change them back. Am using IE11 again and so far no problems. A month ago I couldn't get by one session without having to shut down IE11 and that's why I changed to Chrome.
Everything else seems fine.

Microsoft Update Catalog
That Microsoft Update Catalog page has a problem as shown in this screenshot:
Attachment 67208
As shown, it does not like Internet Explorer 11 which I used to access the site.
