I keep only few Linux distros in VM.
I keep many Linux distro VM and in fact was dual booting until openSUSE lost internet connectivity for some reason. However using VMware I have Windows 10 Insider Preview, Windows Server 2016 TP 4 and Windows XP VMs. Virtualbox does not work (known problem)
For those of you who are currently running 10586.104 and cannot upgrade to 14267 because it does not show up on WU:
- Make sure your OS is activated and is set to Fast Ring;
- Uninstall the Cumulative Update KB3135173 by going to Settings > Update and Security > Windows Update > Advanced Settings > Uninstall Updates;
- Hide said update to prevent it from reinstalling, using this tool provided by Microsoft: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/3073930
- Wait for 10 to 24 hours... The new preview build should now appear on WU and install successfully.
WarningSome people have reported problems with Windows starting when fast startup is turned on in build 14267.
If this happens to you, then restart the computer using the case power button to then be able to boot into Windows, and turn off fast startup until Microsoft releases a fix for this.
How to Turn On or Off Fast Startup in Windows 10
Good catch there! Shawn I'll have to tend to that on the second desktop and not on the first however since the two 14267 Preview builds on VM are on the 7 drive which will now need to be wiped for the long overdue clean install of 7 there.
The Firefox 44.0.2 install on the 7 side of the dual boot on the main simply froze up right after getting the latest on one of the two there. I couldn't even reply here with one of the browsers either for some time until rebooting back into 10. Post $160 would have been Post #157 but everything went bonkers right after grabbing the snippings I took from the VM.
Is it just me or, does WinKey + Tab include 'Taskview' now!?
It seems that when I first turn on the dual boot machine, HP shows up, but not the circle chasing its tail. Once I press the power button, it immediately turns off (which is normal) and then once I press the power button again, things progress as normal.
I'm not sure this is what your warning is about . . . or if something else entirely is going on.
