New February 2015 Updates for Windows Available

A week for the prep-work updates to get to all.... Wed 18th were updates..... I'll go for Wed 25th!

There was an article somewhere that MS was trying to get it out for the back-to-school shopping. They thought August was too late to catch the college crowd and such. Found this: Windows 10 RTM: June is the target

The flight build just changed to fbl_impressive, although MS previously stated fbl_awesome would be around for a while, so I disagree with NeoWin that the Win10 Consumer Preview arrived in January. I'm not sure that the next TP drop would even be a Consumer Preview. It's really only one build out from the real Win10 TP in January (previous drops were just Win8.1+).

If MS tries to hit the June deadline, Win10 won't be ready for primetime and, in my opinion, will be disastrous for marketing. So, yes ... I agree with Tony (Indianatone): Frankly I fail to see how on earth Windows 10 will be ready in June 2015? Depends on the definition of ready???

Better to wait for a more solid OS release across platforms than to have another Win8 fiasco (I like Win8, the press was bad and it suffered).
Better to wait until Win10 can be 'certified' on a Broadwell chip device - tying Win10 to a new Surface platform is backwards in my thinking. Release the new Surface when Win10 is ready - don't force Win10 just because MS needs a new Surface.

We're only talking about one quarter - I know companies live quarter-to-quarter, but MS should wait. Holiday sales, black Friday ... will more than make up for any Q3 'loss' in sales. A solid Win10 release, a new Surface platform plus a friendly press will drive sales even harder. As the buzz increases, more people might bite the bullet and update XP to Win7 or Win8, also filling in the revenue 'gap'.

Just my take on the schedule - MS will decide, right or wrong, when to call it baked. Brownies are easier - stick a toothpick in and if it comes out clean, they're done

I totally agree! Lots of tug-and-pull-and-shove in Redmond right now. I hate under-cooked Brownies! But, in the end, the bean counters will prevail. If I were an OEM, I'd be more than a little nervous! Use NASCAR logic.... if you hit the track without all the lug nuts tight, you have to go back to the pits!

I thoroughly agree with you, guys. Better to wait for a later, more polished release than an earlier, buggy one.

No matter what MS does the RTM of Win10 is not going to be totally bug free. So I would love to see a June release and then let the patches flow.

Good point. I think the days of the "service pack" are long-long gone. I like MS philosophy of smaller, more frequent updates. Call them Mini-Packs, Cumulative-Rollups, whatever. It would give MS some wiggle room to fix obvious flaws and deliver enhancements more frequently. No more 14 Hotfixes at one time that end up breaking the OS and each other! There may be a demise of good-ole Patch Tuesday! Just my thoughts...
