Unfortunately there isn't! At first following any clean install of 10 and hitting the Get going option setting it to fast would see the 10565 or 10576 arrive in only 4-5hrs. once all the updates were on and you simply waited so long and checked again. Lately however I think the volume of traffic more far more 10 users seen now is the main reason for the delays many of us have been dealing with and nothing to panic over but expect to be on a long waiting list!

I've been on Preview and Insider of Windows 10 since October of 14. I have Insider on two computers now, both took five days to receive 14257 and then both got the update within the same hour. It appears the present iteration of Insider simply requires patience.

Well while some were thinking new builds were going to be popping up faster I think something has been slowed down a bit. If you look back at how slow activation was for the first few weeks just imagine 90% of novice users wondering what "Get insider builds" means along with those in the WIP as well as those more experienced users who simply do know but are not in the WIP all seeing that open enabled. Traffic Jam! Rush Hour Traffic! That would sound about right.

Getting a new build has been sloowwwwwed down for a number of people so far. Just because the number of builds may have increased doesn't necessarily mean they will be arriving faster! In fact I found it a bit odd at first when the 14257 wasn't seen after the 2/4 updates were all on and then the wait for so many hours for the latest build to come in. Instead it took days for the physical install while on the VM it came in much faster there. I could also suspect the av software may have been a part as well since the VM has none at all but was still not seeing the latest Windows Defender update go on without hesitation.

There has always been a waiting list for when updates arrive, new insider builds. This has been true from the beginning.

And defender updates should come faster.. anti virus stuff is more important, IMO.

If you count Defender as AV software, then that's part of the problem.

It's a band-aid for those not smart enough to get real software for true protection.

Still waiting for update. Several reboots didn't make any difference.

I actually use Defender and I've not had issues with it.

I use Windows Defender on my Insider Preview and my wife's laptop and haven't had any problems. IMHO all security software has it's strengths and weakness and there is no "Best". I use Eset Smart Security on my other computers. Not because I think it's best. I use it because I feel confident it's doing what it's supposed to do. Why do you think Windows Defender is only a band-aid?

While we all like the new builds, it is nice to have a little time to work with them before another is introduced. I want to thank f14tomcat for helping me get the latest build installed and working on my desktop computer. I had some difficulty and nothing seemed to work correctly for a while but finally everything is working well with it and now I can see what is different with this build.
