You can remotely connect to the Pi by installing VNC server on your Windows PC. It's like a remote connection or Teamviewer.

I am updating my old Pi right now. :)

The latest Noobs seems to run faster on old pi.

The Microsoft wireless keyboard is plug and play.

Isn't HDMI a digital only signal? VGA is analog which makes me wonder how that cable even works?

I like the keyboard, I have the Logitech equivalent with the touchpad built in. Mines also plug and play. I was also pleasantly surprised when the two finger scroll worked with no extra drivers needed.

You are going to need an active adapter for that. It has to change from digital (HDMI) to analog (VGA) signal.

Hmmm... I think I have one of those cable at home. It's suppose to convert digital to analog video which makes it lose the sound through hdmi. I will test it when I get home.

Should we create a separate RPi thread instead of hijacking this one? Haha.

Is the one you have the Logitech K400? That's the same keyboard my toddler is using on her computer.

That's what I was thinking also, at the price shown, I was doubtful there was any electronics in it, could be wrong though.

I was thinking the same thing a while ago, I was going to start another one but got lazy and nobody complained in this one.
