If you have USB peripherals attached like external drives, you may wanna try unplugging them and try upgrading again.
Thank you, this was the issue. For some reason, the boot files were on another HDD.

How does this happen anyway? Just because I let all my drives in during the w10 installation ?

    Good to hear that.
For some reason the upgrade process is detecting your other drive as the boot drive but it can't find the OS there that's why the upgrade can't go through.
It's a common problem with this upgrade that's why I don't personally recommend dual booting with Windows 10 Preview with any other OS including Linux even on separate drives. You will always run into boot issues. Personally before doing any upgrade, I pull out my other drives to avoid that issue. It's easy for me because my hard drives can be accessed from outside the case.
But my main OS (in M.2 SSD) is in GPT disk and my Insider Preview version is in MBR disk. The 2 don't communicate so I don't really need to pull out the M.2 SSD.

    Thanks for the explanation.

I removed the drive and installed the 14251 just fine. Will do that from now on.

Nice setup you've got there btw

You can easily add external hard drive pull-out (and tool-less) trays on any PC case on those 5.25" external expansion bays. Look at this video. This is the hard drive tray I added to my case for the SSDs.

First read about this product on this forum....installed one about a year ago....no more MBR problems.
Brilliant product...so easy to change O/S.
