Well I can see things like holographic as a big thing in the not to distance future.

I do believe it will take some getting use to for the human brain. You would be using the human brain in ways that it's never worked before.

This is tomorrow's computing. No Desktops, laptops, tablets ... just the virtual screen. Who cares where the hardware is, the interface is on your face, gestures replace input devices.

The marketing is great, the reality - we'll see.

Be careful - don't try to eat the sandwich that someone sent you virtually as a joke.

This and a 3d printer is all you'd ever need - it's the Matrix!

    Very cool stuff.

    Hi

    Big 3D fan here.
I use Nvidia 3D Vision and it works great but it would be wild to get free of the monitor sometimes.

I've dabbled around creating 3D models that I can view in stereo and creating 3D video as well.

I play a lot of 3D games in 3D Vision and the technology has really gotten so much better that I actually forget that I'm wearing the glasses.

I remember the dizziness headaches and eyestrain, I don't get any of that any more.
I just wonder it I will be able to focus on the image with the glasses not on the screen.

I'd like to give it a try.

    -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

If any of you have issues with seeing your monitor clearly, go to your optometrist and tell him exactly how far you sit from your screen, (measure it) and he will make you a set of glasses that focus at that distance.

I just leave then sitting next to my monitor.

It made a world of difference for me.

I just go to one of those 2 pair of glasses for $69 and have a couple of pair made.
Since my eyes change over time fairly quickly, (I'm 76) I get new ones at least once a year.

    Mike

It really does not have to be too expensive, most of technology is already here, GPUs more than capable, micro HUD displays exist, fast wireless too, it's more the case of putting everything together and SW.

I get upset with myself, because I am simply not a headgear type of guy, I wish I were.

I dislike wearing headphones, my 3D glasses, or an earpiece speaker phone. I can stand it about 2 hours max, then take them off, throw them in a corner, and sigh a big "aawwww, that's better".

Maybe, I could just get eye implants instead?

When the hardware advances far enough, the device might go through a similar evolution of the cell phone:

If you stretch the envelop, devices like this and Google Glass could have medical applications to improve sight for people with impaired vision. And stretch to the breaking point - contacts.

But that would be a stretch
