Chase Bank drops Windows Phone support citing lack of user

I am a Chase customer and use the Android app on my phone. After today's broadcast I was very interested in the Windows 10 phone they demonstrated. In fact I definitely will check out the Win 10 phone at the end of my current contract.
There is not to say the Chase may not reconsider this move if the Windows 10 phone becomes popular. If I like the new phone the lack of this app won't stop me from getting it. Chase also has a mobile site that can do just as much as the app so there is nothing lost in my mind.

Reason for the App
I've never really understood this 'app' craze anyway.
I can fully understand the reason for an email app, or a Kindle app, or a music player app, etc., particularly for offline use, but what I don't get is the need for a website app such as Amazon, or in this case a bank. Why don't they just concentrate on mobile versions of their website? And why don't people just visit their websites in their browser? It seems ridiculous to download an 'app' for different websites when you already have a browser that will do that.
I can agree with you in some cases; however, when talking about a website like the Chase website, it is too complex to navigate easily on a phone screen, even a larger one. There are many options and links which are close together, meaning very easy to pick the wrong option. Also, JavaScript is not very forgiving in displaying dropdown options. If they had a mobile friendly version which was easier to use on a smaller screen it would be an easier decision to accept. They do not.
The biggest reason though for having the app is the ability to take a picture and deposit a check from my phone. This is not an option on the website. I find this to be the greatest convenience of Banking with Chase. If this is no longer possible for me, then I will have to look at alternative banks to do business with.
I have contacted Chase's customer service asking about any work around and they have offered nothing. I have also called and emailed the CEO, Jamie Dimon, to voice my displeasure with their decision. I would suggest that any other unhappy customers do the same. His contact info is at the Consumerist website:
