    Man,

I call Windows 10 the everlasting beta. Always something to fix. Always issues.

Windows XP got 3 service packs before becoming one of the most stable OS. Then Win 7 also went through a major upgrades but indeed up to be a great O/S. I liked 8.1

I like 10 but would like to have a fully stable OS fully 4K compatible without eternally being a lab rat

Well no one can beat windows ME. The most expensive Frisbee ever made.
When we became Insiders, we agreed to an "everlasting beta".

With the November upgrade, I switched over to my non-beta Windows 10 and it was stable; I used it between Insider updates until 11082 dropped.

. . .true, wasn't that the reason for joining the insider program to have access to all the new builds regardless of what problems might occur. . .:). . .if you don't like the idea of working with a continuing beta then drop out of the insider program. . .

I don't have a problem with crappy Builds per se, it just seems like the whole program has turned into a 'dog and pony' show!
    On the one hand:
    - Windows 10 has to succeed or MS may not be given another chance to redeem themselves,
    - yet, they're pushing things out rapidly in an effort to play 'catch up' on various fronts,
    - then, you've got Gabe making everybody p*ss their pants over a new Build that may drop any minute, every couple weeks or so; then you run it, and it's like 'what the frig'!
It's like giving a race car driver an innovative, newly built machine, not telling him that the accelerator pedal doesn't work, but here's the keys anyway, take it for a spin, tell us what you think!
A bit undiplomatic in my opinion.

I see you already got an answer OTOH

FWIW Winver CMD reports Version 1511 (OS Build 10082.1000 ) wrong version number .

In the registry it is correctly reported as
    11082.rs1 release 151210-2021 & 11082.1000.amd64fre.rs1release 151210-2021 unless you are on 32 bit( X86) Windows 10.

I'm sorry, who said I was still an insider. I was MVP for 7 years. Loved to test.

Non beta is far from being as stable as it should be. With Windows XP, 7 , 8, once the build was gold it kept on being polished to be more and more stable, no ad-dons. Windows 10 is a different issue. Each build gets a new toy while the stability of the original build still lags and gets more bloated.

Mind you not all users are facing this issue (That's impossible and irrational), but I feel more of an insider outside the test zone. A lot of my clients are having issues. What bugs me the most is the push to have you install an upgrade instead of letting you choose when and were.

I am pro MS but that's not my vision of good customer relations. Let me decide.

That's my 2 cents. You don't have to like it. I enjoy your opinions.

I almost feel a sense of guilt, so many posters with problems, disappointments, frustrations, etc.
Yet here I am running seamlessly apart from one problem already posted plus the known ones given by Gabe on the release of this version.

Theories regarding faults....is there more than one server with some giving download problems?
Registry edits in previous versions being tied in with and carried through due to M$ certification identification processes.
Hardware or software clashing... these could be solved by systematically uninstalling one at a time to find the culprit, and reinstalling when system is finally sorted....yes I appreciate its a pain, but isn't this what being an insider is all about...and reporting the problems.
