Yes, all previous updates were done. It finally finished though and all installed OK
Perhaps my ISP was having a bad day! I should have performed a speed test at the time of downloading the updates .. it may have shown I was restricted, possibly due to line issues (common in my part of the country)
Must admit I didn't think ANY country had slower ADSL speeds that South Africa! My Dad in the UK has a BT 8 Mbps connection, and never complains about MS updates taking a long time. But then again, he's 95 years old, so he probably wouldn't notice!

Running Winver command shows I am no on OS Build 10856.29
Good to hear you got it in the end
How long did the download take?

Many places in the UK outside the big towns/cities have poor broadband, its just one of the sacrifices of living in a rural area (although they are improving that now)

I feel your pain though on the slowness, with more and more things being online, big tech firm just seem to assume everyone has unlimited super fast fibre

Unfortunately I don't know. Whenever it's Win 10 update time I tend to just let it run its course, and I leave my PC unattended. It gives me time to do some shopping, or to nip off to my local Pub. When I get back home the update is then usually in the "restart PC" stage. I restart, let it runs its course, and have another beer, and then hope like hell that all will go without a hitch

I normally go and make a coffee by the time I get back all done ready for me to restart or put password in.
