You are correct, that is not senseless, But;
I also read the article because I thought it was about people like myself who want these things.
I felt the original article was about how many people wanted transparency, not, if it was good, bad or anything else. Which was nothing more an informational thing and not debatable, unless, they wanted to challenge the accuracy of the article.
And it seemed some wanted to hi-jack this and turn it into a debate about the pros and cons of transparency, which can be debated, but I felt this was the wrong article and topic to bring those issues up, hence my comments.
That was the only point I was trying to bring.
