Microsoft’s Patch Tuesday fixes will go live in less than a couple of hours and Windows 10 machines are among those to get new security updates this month.

But in case you’re running both Windows 10 and Office, here’s something that you really didn’t see coming. Microsoft’s Gabriel Aul revealed in a series of tweets that this month’s rollout would include an Office security update that would also install on Windows 10, but as compared to the other Windows versions on the market, this one would require a small trick to work.

Basically, users who installed Office on their Windows 10 computers will have to uninstall the productivity suite, install the update via Windows Update, and then reinstall Office.

And yes, Microsoft knows that this is “a tough call,” but the company says that the development team worked through the night to find a fix for this. And this is the solution they came up with.

I have Office 365 on this Win 10 9879 PC and the updates installed just fine without uninstalling Office.

Windows 10 calls it Office 13 in the Start Menu.

As I have been advised there is a possibility of a work around, I have no idea if this will actually work: All things considered, it is worth a try.

There are actually three updates available for Windows 10 today. Microsoft recommends that you install one of them—KB3022827 before doing the workaround to uninstall Office first. Then, reboot and install the other two updates. Then, check Windows Update: If all of the updates installed correctly, you won't need to worry about uninstalling Office. I'm happy to report—for a change—that this actually worked for me

I installed KB3022827 first, rebooted and installed the others and no problem. Office still runs fine.
