A while back - about 15 years ago, I was attempting to withdraw money from an ATM and it rebooted in the middle of my transaction and the boot screen was OS/2 Warp.

My uneducated guess is M.S was losing control (or at least what they thought was adequate oversight ) of the activation /digital entitlements with the MCT and ISO media clean installs and otherwise using winkeys outside of Windows update /upgrades and re sets so they put the brakes on ☻☻

Somebody probably did a compliance audit and somebody up there in OZ doesn't like what they saw !

It's the control is power and power is control thing or the power and control wheel had a flat ! ☻☻

OTOH the 1511- ( 10586.3) build is running fine on 3 desktop boxes here and one Elitebook , (4) 7 x64 licence upgrades and one Insider build on this dual booter !

That wouldn't make any sense though. When windows update downloads the update installation files, you can convert the install.wim or install.esd file into an iso image. I even read there is way to add programs to the install.wim or install.esd but that is a little more complicated.

I just don't see that given the new business model, the reason the upgrade was free in the 1st place. Win 7 with key, I had 3 installs. For the 4th, I had to call and deactivate the dead PC for the new. Once upgraded, was not win 10 supposed to associated a key with 1 of those 3 installs?

Maybe they are having problems with that. But they have had time to deal with the key issue since July, one would think, especially since it was not an option with 10240. And also given the speed with which TH2 was pulled... and the lack of transparency.

Yea but they ain't banking on the millions or billions of average users outside of the update channel even finding an install.wim ESD and converting the file to bootable installers ! It's all about risk management remediation and the numbers this is a global thing and the numbers can add up or maybe they are going back to their Omnipotent ways even though they never strayed much . ☻☻
