But wont this increase server load, they will firstly have to download 10240 and then double up on that download with TH2 update. If you have to make an on demand download initially whether ISO or Upgrade of 3gb or so, then it may as well be the TH2 version. not 3gb of 10240 then another 3gb of TH2
No, having the update available through more than one method would put more of a load on the servers.

How so ? Wont most people simply download it once ?

For isntance if you have 3 computers to upgrade isn't downloading an ISO that's up to date much much more sensible ?

    1 x 3gb download and put it on all three from USB/Disk = 3GB

    As opposed to
    1 x3GB 10240 download
    3x3GB updates to three computers
    =12 GB

or Updating 3 in place from windows 7 computers

    3x3Gb + 3x3 GB = 18GB

Interesting point but it seems that it put a load on the servers and MS dropped that option.

Microsoft controls when the update is made available to individual groups of users.

Rather than have everyone try to download an update or upgrade on day one the load will be spread over a period of time.

This has already been seen with the initial release of windows 10 (10240) I myself had a wait of several weeks between systems for the upgrade to be made available.

Of course I could if I had wanted used MCT on Day one to force the issue as could everyone else (and a lot did)

If the PC's are all on the same network then Updates will be shared between them, so only downloading once
1 PC x3GB Downlod from internet
2 & 3 PC pull downloaded files from PC 1
*Unless you have that option turned off

Sure I understand load balancing, but making the download the 10240 version doubles up on the total bandwidth they need.
They could still ration out bandwidth, but for the TH2 version.

Yes but even then it's two downloads instead of one the 10240 version, and then the TH2 update.

it would take a whole day to do that, if you simply had TH2 disk you could update/fresh install them all much more quickly and reliably

Bandwidth is not a issue and has never been a issue for Microsoft even back in 1996 as Microsoft has their own backbone network. The concern is more of the users bandwidth. Microsoft also pays Akamai for DNS and Content Delivery Services so they would need to send one copy to Akamai and then Akamai would send the copy to the many thousands of servers worldwide where you will connect with the nearest Akamai Server that is closest to the DNS Server you are using. This is how Microsoft, Apple, Netflix and other companies all do it to reduce load on their servers and network as everything is really only sent once. People usually never connect with the servers of the companies directly.

Lol it still does not make sense.. what is best for everyone 2x3gb downloads (1024 the TH2) , or 1x3gb up to date one ?
Not to mention the time it takes users to install two operating systems.

Many people have issues updating (me included it just kept sending me back to 10240) a clean install was my only option and was in fact advised on Microsoft's own page. Even if bandwidth simply is not an issue, it still makes no sense.

I tried a three times with WU, and twice with the MCT (about 15gb) before making an ISO ..another 3GB

Bandwidth is an issue - for the user with a data cap - or overage charges..
Three failed windows update downloads attempts equals a lot of worthless downloaded data..

    Vs. One downloaded ISO
