I would like to think MS would provide some explanations soon - just to quiet the natives.

Why start now? They've left everyone in the dark about everything else. Not sure why this would be any different.

MS suddenly decides not to offer Win 10 November update via MCT

Things got very confusing today, as Microsoft suddenly - without warning or explanation - appeared to pull the Windows 10 'November update' that it released just over a week ago.

As a result, the Media Creation Tool, which had allowed users to download ISOs of the update (known also as Version 1511/Build 10586), suddenly stopped offering the new version, instead reverting to installations of build 10240 - the original public release of Windows 10, which came out back in July. The company also updated its notes for the Tool, stating that "these downloads cannot be used to update Windows 10 PCs to the November update (Version 1511)".Bizarrely, despite Microsoft previously recommending the Tool to users who wished to install version 1511, it now says that that will no longer be an option.

    Hi,

From the same site a quote from MS's spokes person:

The November update will be delivered via Windows Update.
From what I read here it is not at the moment though.
Add to that the fact that people seemed to experience less problems using the download from Tech Bench than they did by using WU this really seems an odd decision all in all.

    Cheers,

Now I wonder for people trying to fix their systems with the in-place upgrade repair using the 10240 ISO, would it still work if they are already using 10586 since unless the updates the ISO installer installs includes 10586, there might be a problem.

Microsoft suddenly decides not to offer Windows 10 November update via Media Creation Tool

The November update was originally available via the MCT tool, but we've decided that future installs should be through Windows Update. People can still download Windows 10 using the MCT tool if they wish. The November update will be delivered via Windows Update.
People won't like that at all including me. That means they just killed being able to use your windows 7 or 8.1 key for a clean install unless they updated the old Media creation tool to accept windows 7 & 8.1 keys. At least, I still have the iso created from the newer media creation tool. I also saved the media creation tool but don't know if it will work.

    Looks like I was correct

Microsoft yanks latest Windows 10 release from its download server | ZDNet

To add insult to those injuries, the sudden removal of the build 10586 ISO files means that the newly added capability to do a clean install using a Windows 7 or Windows 8.x product key is now unavailable to the general public unless they were fast enough to download and save an ISO file before the sudden change

I haven't read all of this thread - just bits and pieces every couple days - so I have missed a lot, but I haven't seen anybody complain about the contents of TH2. All the complaints I've seen have been about have been about installation of the maintenance via Windows Update. And the Media Creation Tool got around those problems. So Microsoft has eliminated the reliable option and says we need to use the flaky one.

I've installed TH2 on a seldom used PC - the only one running Win10. I wonder what wonderful new behavior I'm going to eventually see because of this maintenance.

And I wonder it it is eventually going to be available again through the MCT once the maintenance is safe.
