    It takes the name from the user (or email address) used to first install Windows. It is stored in the RegisteredOwner and RegisteredOrganization registry keys and you can change it to whatever you want - it has no bearing on how system runs.

    Actually RegisteredOwner appears TWICE in the registry.
    2nd location is here: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\Setup\Source OS But don't know if you have to change both places.

    Update: Looks like after we installed MS update 1511 in my case on Nov 12th it added a 2nd location for RegisteredOwner.
    Didn't know that till I just checked few min's ago. Sneaky.... :) Because it always used to be only in one location.
