Also downloaded a 1511 ( 10586.0 ) ISO and MCT today and burned a DVD from the ISO .

See, I understand that people are having problems. I'm not saying they aren't.

I hope they/Microsoft/forum users here figure out what goes wrong.

I just can't deal with the "IT STINKS FOR ME, IT CAUSES PROBLEMS FOR ME AND EVERYONE" when none of this has for me and many others. For me, TH2 and its updates have been fine.

They are a download aggregator ( not quite a torrent/pirate link but close ) i.e. very dicey ....they try to trick you into clicking on a sponsored download and not what you went there for and a lot of freeware/shareware there and on the web in general has malware . Sometimes for example sometimes there are7 download links on a page there and what you want is not close to the description as it would be on a vendor's site .

Cnet's Download .com is another prolific malware geyser these days ......even SourceForge is getting that way now

If you are going to use those download aggregators or freeware/shareware or anything at all from outside of an original vendor download link or anything from a hosted download link I would use an MD5 / SHA checksum utility and verify the generated hash before you execute any set up files ☻☻

W10 is a good fit for some and maybe not for everyone or every given configuration i.e. it's still a work in progress hence the upcoming Redstone builds

Chances are reasonably decent here of getting a problem resolved on W 10 ( no guarantees though it is Windows after all ) .

OTOH the Microsoft Windows Insider Forums are hit and miss a lot of solutions come from the members.

The Microsoft folks and some MVP's there are more often than not wrong or simply do not understand your question and just link scripts or something you told them you already did and after that , and you tell them something didn't work or is wrong that's the last you hear from them .☻☻

My guess is aside from maybe some inexperienced B-1B and B1-A folks or just inexperienced folks in general there.......... maybe the MS folks and MVP's there are so compartmentalized they are clueless outside of their areas and even within them sometimes . ☻☻

I use MajorGeeks mostly. MajorGeeks either provides their own link or provides the author web site download link. I do use SourceForge but that is for my Linux system. Wine won't work without certain fonts provide as open source or freeware by Microsoft, you have to agree to the Microsoft E.U.L.A to use them. There is also another site I download from-that was recommend by posters, it is called Ninite

I did the first major update! I had to reinstall CCleaner, and my Google Chrome tile in the start menu has no image, and I had to reload Chrome the setting.

From the start, when I did get past that blank screen thing by using Reset this PC, Windows 10 has been nothing but troublefree and really, phenomenal.

I have spent my entire time using Windows avoiding in-place upgrades, but this has been great (once I got past that very early hitch).

Why am I seeing smooth sailing, and others are cursing everything associated with Microsoft and having problems by the bucket full?

I don't know. My only guess is that I have a very pedestrian Dell laptop with very little "special" configuration, no external video card, nothing special.

I shudder to think of how many possible "different" configurations there are in the Windows world, and maybe Microsoft doesn't have a 100% handle on a chunk of them.
