First Major Update for Windows 10 Available

That is a little concerning. Once activated, it shouldn't need activated again. It becomes a digital entitlement. If it happens again, try a reboot fist before using your key again.

Ed Bott of ZDNet has chimed in with this:

Without explanation, Microsoft has removed the just-released November update (version 1511) from the download page it offers to the general public. The media creation tool now downloads the initial release of Windows 10 instead. [Update: Microsoft tries to explain.]

Update: The version 10586 Media Creation Tool is still available from an unpublished link on Microsoft's download servers. Microsoft will probably remove it before long, but for now at least it works to upgrade systems running the original (build 10240) release of Windows 10 or to create a version 1511 ISO file.

You would think so but if you clean install appears only way to reactivate is to enter previous key...go to "get more info" under (setting) activation tab for more info on this.....appears only needs to be done on clean install of ver 1511.. Have another PC I updated to ver 1511 and no problem with activation...again, took about 24 hrs before I discovered I had problem with activation.

I had something similar happen a couple a days ago. It was not related to a clean install, but this is what I did.

Windows 10 Pro (10586.11) mysteriously became Not Activated

I didn't read ED Bott's update. I get ZDNet links in my email and have them on my Bookmarks/Favorites bars .

ED Bott's is one of the few writers that gets it right before he puts something out he's been pretty reliable all along about Windows Ten !

Absolutely. If I want to know the real skinny, I go to Ed Bott first. :) And I also have his email subscription. Very good reading indeed.

I have the download, just need to get time to create the Flash Drive, but it'll have to wait until tomorrow . . . got too many errands to run before the rain blows in. Although I love it, don't want no snow until after Thanksgiving! Rain's bad enough to make us cancel some of our plans already.
