Clean install with my MSDN ISO's. I've done upgrades in the past. My desktop had gone from 8.1 Pro to 10 Pro via the free upgrade. My other PC's too. I then went to Enterprise on my laptop to get access to Windows To Go. I had reinstalled 8.1 Pro on my other desktop PC to test something. Seemed like a good time to clean them all up with clean installs.

I think they are the same now. Both are multi edition home and Pro. I just put a PID.txt file in the sources folder with the generic Pro key in it. No having to select Home or Pro and no having to click skip several times when asked for a key. This is for my custom install thumb drives. I have one for each PC with OEM info added.

I think the reason that was seen in the blog is so people from all over wouldn't all be expecting to see the new build, which is what it is not just another update but "upgrade"! you should be aware of, so the download servers won't be overwhelmed like the activation servers were back during the first week of August. You have to remember that 10 went out to nearly 200 countries which means getting close to the "1 Billion" mark they set as a goal!

Upgrade of OS not update! On a VM it went like an update since there isn't hardly any there besides a few apps you may put on and no hardwares! Plan on seeing this as another upgrade install where some things will likely need to be reinstalled fresh.

While it's easy enough simply using the Media Creation tool for seeing that done and from the genuine source! I start questioning other supposed sources like leaks! Anything leaked on the web if that is what you are referring could be tainted with malwares! The MC Tool download verified the Threshold 2 as being the same as the 10586 but no go on expecting to see any build number. The next batches of OEM goods going out will be seeing this build while systems and devices still in retail inventories will still be seeing the 10240.

When downloading to save with the MC tool the new VM to give this a look already having the 10586 on another VM started installing on the spot and saw no "skip key" link as the other builds did. Even the 10240 saw that but instead you see a message prompt appear stating you can still install Windows but... blah blah as you would have with any previous version.

On checking up to see if the new 10 Pro VM got activated not having run it long I ran into a fmailiar sight! "Error code: 0xC004C003" That and finding "Your product key info" with a 5 digit last group in plain view suggesting it will activate on it's own without a key since the 10586 Insider Preview on the other VM activated with a key on the same machine.
