First Major Update for Windows 10 Available
-
I knew what you meant. Basically considered an update, not an upgrade. Thought would be a difference from doing it from the ISO compared to the windows update is all.
You can get 10586 via Windows Update
You can get 10586 by doing an Upgrade
Same Thing...

Doesn't doing it by the ISO leave windows .old folder compared to the update via Windows update ? Just curious to differences if any with performance either way from it on a system.

I don't mean to contradict.
I was using the Media Creation Tool to download the iso and used it to do the installation.
The result is Th2 10586.3.
In my case, there was no need to use windows Update at all.
You got lucky. I downloaded it this AM and it was 10586.0.

Don't need the ESD file since The Media creation tool is out, and both ISO files are available MS Site. . .:). . .
Right the The Media Creation Tool is current now to 10586.3 and is labeled as such *as of this afternoon* ( it presumably does the 10586 to 10586.3 or at least other updates during set up if you don't click past "install updates now " it all works fine I just used it W/ direct "install now " option and here is my build string right now without checking updates after the install.
The ISO and USB download options @ The Media Creation Tool would presumably be the same same and behave like the direct "install now " option . ☻
FWIW the download link in the Windows 10 upgrade Tutorial * here at Ten forums * will get you the current Media creation tool.

Same here. 10586.0 from ISO details, just did it an hour ago.

OK, I'm a bit confused now. You seem to be saying the media creation tool will onlydownload 10586.0, and then we'll have to get the other updates through Windows Update.
On the other hand I read Brink's statement as saying the ISO download IS the TH2 update.
Am I to infer, from your statement, that the Media Creation Tool does NOT download the version Brink linked to?
I just upgraded nephews laptop and did a upgrade with media tool and selected upgrade pc now option that went straight to 10586.3

ISO is 10586.0 when using it by letting it install updates is bringing it to 10586.3
-
the Media tool has not changed since this morning...
All the SHA1 are the Exact same..
10586.3 goes with a windows update right after the OS comes online..

If that is still true on an ISO or USB presumably if you don't decline the "install updates now " option during the installer set set up it should update to all current things as of today and 10586.3 or no ?

I downloaded the Media Creation Tool this morning and did a clean install. When it was finished, I had 10586.0. I went to Update and Security, checked for updates and was given the bits that took me to 10586.3.
Others have said they used the MCT and got to 10586.3 with it.
Could it be that those who got to 10586.3 did an upgrade rather than a clean install? That's the only thing I can think of that might be different.
