Don't know it's a Google Image ......but Osborne Computer virtually went up in smoke within 5 years of starting up i.e. bankruptcy and closing down in 1985 !

    Funny

It is actually hard to tell if you do a close up on the image but it does look like there is bullet hole though on the computer but that could be the way the computer is designed.

From what I've heard from my friend and read in Wikipedia Osborne computer was pretty dicey financially at times . My friend now retired was one of Osborne's direct reports who went on to become a successful programmer and IT manager for global hospitality companies we all know .

There is an article in Wikipedia about Adam Osborne unintentionally hastening the death of the company by promoting a newer product before it was out and killing sales of existing product thus their cash flow because of cancelled orders for existing product and orders being changed for the as yet uncompleted new products . .

I managed to download the 10586 ISOs before they pulled them. I was thinking of updating my tablet from 8.1 to 10. Originally my tablet was installed as 8.1 Home, but I upgraded to Pro by purchasing a license. Is there any way to know whether upgrading to 10 will somehow default to Home instead of Pro? I've read that some people have had that problem with upgrading from the ISO and would like to avoid it.

If you run setup.exe from inside your currently operating Windows 8.1, you will get an upgrade to the same version you have installed. If you do a clean install by booting from a USB/DVD created from the ISO, you will first get the version that it finds a product key for in bios.

If you purchased a separate license for the Pro edition that will be the key you enter on the prompt key or later when at the desktop to see 10 Pro activated. That key will only work on the Pro edition.

When you do a clean install of "Anything" that will be the OS that goes on! The eprom info only determines the Digital entitlement when the exact same Home to Home upgrade is seen not when putting on a fresh copy of the Pro edition. Since a retail key for Pro was bought that will need be entered immediately or once at the desktop to see the fresh Pro install activate.

If I clean install with my 10586 multi edition MSDN ISO, the OEM embedded key takes priority over everything else. I clean installed on a laptop with an 8.0 Core OEM embedded key. I was not given the option to select Home or Pro or enter a key. 10 Home was installed and it activated with a digital entitlement. 10 Home was never installed on this laptop before this. It was originally running 10 Pro with a digital entitlement. It was an upgrade from 8.1 Pro. There was no way for me to install Pro. Not without modifying my install media. And no easy way for joe average to figure out how to get Pro installed again. I did a change product code and entered the generic Pro key. It the upgraded and activated with the original digital entitlement it had before the clean install.

EDIT: Build 10240 will not do this as it does not use Windows 7 and 8 OEM embedded keys. Plus the downloads are separate Home or Pro downloads not Home and Pro in the one ISO.
