You never know! You might just see something sooner like in late January - early February knowing how MS likes to put things out in varying intervals. Could be in the next spring as well.

Awww geee... no great loss! People seem to depend on that one a bit too much until they start losing files they meant to keep!

CCleaner is alive but Speccy was purged. So far every single update deleted Speccy like a menace. MS hates Speccy and 8GadgetPack which regenerates very fast. I did not lose CCleaner because it is installed on different drive.

Gee it's nice to hear that someone else is also running with 8GadgetPack!

The one thing most people keep seeming to forget is that with any upgrade or clean install things tend to get packed up in the old notorious "Windows.old" folder. The often or not most of the small add on utility apps always seem to end up there for some reason while some are a bit more glued to the fabric?

With certain apps I tried out on VM as well as the physical upgrades they some how seem to linger on after multiple upgrades seen. Typically the second upgrade over any upgrade will be almost back to square one while a few still manage to hand in there. A lot of that would fall back on how they are written.

No problems with CCleaner after the 10586.3 or 10586.11 th2 + cumulative updates here or the start up menu app folder and apps in there and pinned apps including my custom ones .

On one of the other PC's here during a 7x64 licenced upgrade to 10586.3 Speccy got removed and so did something else like that I cant remember .

I never could get Speccy to work in Windows 10 so I uninstalled it on this box a good while ago .

I never about side order "Small Fries" just the main course! whenever going to see an upgrade type install having been too accustomed to only seeing clean installs over the years! I never even upgraded from 3.1 to 95 but simply replaced the entire pc! When going to upgrade the OS from one place I simply swapped the old IBM 386 system for another 486 flat top until the first custom case came along for 98SE. Gee I was lucky and simply went right past 98 Edition 1 right into the Second edition there!

At that time HW and SW, specially Windows, advancements coincided beautifully and were bigger jumps than now. It did make a lot of sense to change whole kitten caboodle.

95 saw it's own service pack actually when you look back at the OSR2 package to see 32bit support added. 98SE by then had already seen 98 come included there while ME was the first entirely 32bit in the old Legacy line up. 2000 back then however was the preferred and successful OS in contrast however seeing the NT cord brought into the desktop platform from where XP was able to get it's snatch and grap from both of those two still seeing Fat support Vista didn't see only to be brought back in 7! And round and round we go says MS!

They labeled ME a big flop back then not because of any actual problems for the Fat32 OS but because it was still Fat yet what do you still see in 10 today? Fat isn't going to away at all! MS found that out with Vista there once all those new usb devices suddenly appeared on the market still using Fat! Can't get the Fat out! So that's one thing you have to learn to live with I guess! from Dos to W10 x64!

That brings me to my all time wish and may I say great idea. A Windows without any "fat", Just a bare bone OS without any Apps, small programs like Notepad, Wordpad, Media player, Calc..... Nothing, not even a browser . I routinely replace them with much better aftermarket stuff anyway and most of it is freeware. Windows could be cheaper without all those things that are not all made in-house but MS have to pay for their inclusion.
As they are, Windows is not just OS but whole system that is not needed by everybody.

That couldn't have been more true for 8! "Metro In You Face" is a good tag for that catastrophy! A stripping out of the things people counted on being there for a screen full of NONSENSE! MS slipped up again big time and as you will notice never seems to include 8 along with 8.1 and 7 wneh mentioning anything about upgrades to 10!

They fumbled the ball there putting too much of the wrong thing in when stripping out the other which went over like a lead balloon. In the situation there this time it wasn't some OEM system loaded with bloat but MS loading the bloat after the fact of "cutting corners?! When looking back at the Legacy years you never saw crud in the OS unless "you put it there!" being the golden rule of thought for the day.

Vista got the first tag for being a bloated OS as XP fans declared back then. Yet Vista wasn't the one loaded with errors only simply MS growing Windows too large! as they realized themselves bringing in what we know now as the progressive MinWin kernel while the main bulk now seen isn't add ons as it is with 10 being a dual platform OS. Most of the extras seen now are things you would find at the MS store online.

Things like the MS store tile itself for example are linked html files stashed away on the drive and not actually anything installed as an app would be. That only takes a few kb at best there. The Tablet mode option with all the new touchscreen support however is like having a second OS added in over the top desktop layer resting on the MinWin kernel.

That's the key factor making 10 larger and slower to do things at times like installation compared to 7's old 20 minute dvd record topping the 39 minute average for the older cd to dvd(Vista first to see dvd media). 8 took a full hour as does 10 while the upgrades over any installation loaded with programs will run longer and should be expected to do so.

I don't have any issue with interface or "in your face" looks, it's relatively easy to fix those things but as it's changeable anyway why not drop it and let everybody decide for themselves what to use. Brand name computer manufacturers, specially laptops, fill it up with even more useless crap and in some cases up to usability border.
So give me a sub 50 bucks windows and let me go nuts with it. As it is, I guess I use 30% or less of what's in there. I have a nice collection of freeware, simple programs that do only one or two things at a time and it's quite enough. Those programs that do everything but cook, babysit or wash windows and include everything but kitchen sink, cost arm and a leg, I have little use for.
