I think they realized that they would need to simply things even more so since people were getting confused trying to upgrade to the wrong edition as well as getting more people to upgrade once word gets out. That's another good reason never to buy any new system right after any new version comes along as the updates will come later in with the next build at times.

Yet you can now download a single ISO that rolls up about 10yrs. of updates for previous versions. That would be good for those planning to dual boot 10 with one of the now defunct versions(XP, Vista nothing now for 2000, ME, Legacy).

As for 10 wanting to avoid the need to put out new media for each build MS has been planning to release each build by way of the updates method to start with. Rather then a ton of updates if you should need to reinstall 10 as previously seen you would put the latest build on again already having things wrapped up in one shot. You'll end up with much less loose updates in the interim between now the TH2 and what comes next likely the TH3 and TH4 in that progression if seen at all.
Next is Redstone next year in two waves, allegedly in summer and autumn.

TH2 purged CCleaner, but so far it seems like my other programs survived.

TH2 didn't bother CCleaner on any of the 4 PCs I upgraded.

I realised that it had been purged (at least from the All Apps section) because I couldn't run it, despite having CCleaner Reg backups in my Documents folder.

The latest installer was in my Downloads folder, which is where I copy installers just prior to installing the software (i.e. I don't copy installers to W10 without running them).

No problems with CCleaner after the 10586.3 or 10586.11 th2 + cumulative updates here or the start up menu app folder and apps in there and pinned apps including my custom ones .

On one of the other PC's here during a 7x64 licenced upgrade to 10586.3 Speccy got removed and so did something else like that I cant remember .

I never could get Speccy to work in Windows 10 so I uninstalled it on this box a good while ago .
