Longtime FF user, been using cyberfox (a FF look-a-like) for the last 2 months. It is available in an AMD or an Intel version, both 32 & 64bit. Versions track FF.

Thanks for that info jds63. I was just about to ask how/why a 64-bit Firefox is superior to a 32-bit Firefox. I'll just stay with 32-bit.

FWIW, and not just to be contrarian: I have installed the 64 bit version now on two of my machines, both I-7's, and have noticed a definite snappy improvement on page swapping, etc., especially on my Wi-Fi linked ultrabook which is up-to-date latest build. Don't know how much to attribute to FF vs Win10.

Yes I find FF x64 gives a snappier performance over the x86 builds.

That's why I previously stuck to FF beta builds as x64 has been available in those for quite a while now.

I have used x64 versions of Seamonkey and Pale Moon since 2011, and since I have plenty of opportunity to compare x86 versions, I find it snappier and more responsive as well.

I never knew that IE 11 was sanboxed: really?

    Definitely snappier here too.

The rendering seems much quicker (snappier). I had been using IE11 because it was better at rendering (snappier). Probably ought to run some tests. Peacekeeper used to measure rendering speed, but that is defunct now.

I've been using x64 builds of FF for years now. There are nightlies, Pale Moon, and more recently betas. All of them have been rather stable and usable for me. I always keep a vanilla x86 FF for compatibility - sometimes I go overboard with security precautions and add-ons and then some sites get broken. As far as speed - once you get an SSD and a decent system, speed is no longer an issue. The benchmarks may argue about nanoseconds, but I certainly can't feel them in real life, so I never bother looking at benchmarks anymore.

As to the "advantage" - that was Mozilla's argument for years, they did not develop x64 FF since they did not see the advantage. My reason is that running anything 32bit on a 64bit OS requires the additional emulation layer and is simply unnatural, however well it might work. It also seems more secure, but just because the majority does not run it.

I downloaded and installed Cyberfox 64 bit...i never knew this alternative to Mozilla Firefox existed...anyway Cyberfox loads up faster..Mozilla Firefox add-ons i use are compatible....and Cyberfox does not crash as Mozilla Firefox does with Adobe Flash Player plugin.I could not watch Demand 5 catch up player at all...keep getting the Flash player plugin crashed message.

Since installing Cyberfox Demand 5,BBC iplayer,Itv player programs play perfectly as if you watching a dvd...quality is amazing...maybe it's something to do with my 64 Bit 8.1 OS i have along with 64 Bit AMD Graphic Driver.

I like it.Uninstalled Mozilla Firefox and never looked back.

Been using x64 builds for years as well. Never any real issues of note other than the typical bugs present in unstable software.
