@groze when I look at your specs

With all the background broadband stuff going on all the "extras" in Windows 8 or 10 probably wouldn't be a good choice for you, even if there was no issue with privacy. On Windows 7 you can turn off everything that sends data, like sending Reliability history error reports among other things, which helps save bandwidth.

I really have no issues with Economy service except for internet being disconnected a lot. I have been able to watch amazon video, youtube, hulu, imdb and other videos without issue. Occasional buffering but not that much. The only issue is my internet provider disconnecting me when watching a video especially when watching an html5 video, hard to get back to where I left off.

Except, with a regularly updated build 10240 RTM, running Edge12, I get :
    Attachment 44953
    Firefox 41.0:
    Attachment 44954
    Chrome 48:
    Attachment 44956
So the version of edge most ordinary users have is still way behind.
Maybe, but Edge supports Netflix at 1080P, Chrome at 720P, and Firefox not at all. Don't know about Amazon, Hulu, etc.
Netflix system requirements for HTML5 Player and Silverlight

I hate Edge for browsing, but I like it for streaming video.

Like I said earlier YouTube vids look better in Edge than Chrome(music quality is darn good too:))

Quite the "Battle of the Browsers" on this thread. I think we're finally coming to the conclusion that there is no one "best" browser. The "best" one is the one YOU like using for whatever reason. IMO they all have their pros and cons. MS is taking a different approach with Edge, just as with their OSs as of late. If the "Modern" WinRT approach is not for you, then I suggest to move on. Geez. Enough is enough.

+1.. so true. This "best browser" discussion is becoming silly. But I guess this is the internet and someone has to win this discussion/argument.

Regardless of which browser is subjectively better than another, Microsoft is tempting fate if they're adding nag screens. Another round of antitrust cases is inevitable if they keep pushing.
