Haven't used IE as primary browser for years. What is this Edge thing? :)

It is the main browser in Windows 10. MS claims it is ahead of Chrome which I highly think is not true.

I know I will take like lots of flak but to me Windows 10 is turning into a Linux, Android, OS X franken monster kind of OS. It is losing its identity as far as I'm concerned. Maybe just the whole touch and phone thing taking over but they are leaving me behind. Move on Windows and MS, best wishes.

Will this free up some resources at Microsoft? Edge needs a little work!
I wish this forum allowed me to give you a STAR for that statement! Edge needs a way to go DIRECTLY back to a specific current website's page really bad. Clicking backwards at many websites is impossible because of navigational brick walls caused by some kind of ad cookie. Every other browser allows you to hold down the left arrow, see a list of visited pages, hover to the desired page, click on it and viola!, you're there.

If we are going to use other browsers like one suggested, then is a bad move for Microsoft, as they surely want us to use Edge. To make us like Edge, make it better, or let us the choice to use IE. Period. If it is as bad as Chrome (feature-wise) then thanks a lot, I'm turning to a more featured browser such as Firefox. But this sounds like using Linux and certainly I hate it! I prefer using IE or Edge if it gets better.

Edge believe me will get better has to be given time, it is what only 12-13 weeks old on your system at the moment.
At least it does not crash or freeze or kick you out of the site like IE11 used too

IE is perfectly solid here, no crashes or freezes

Perhaps you need to fix the issue with your PC on why you get these issues?

That was on windows 8.1 and it was not the laptop as I had 2 at the time different makes and it happened on both off them.
When I went to 10 found Edge better on both so got rid of IE11 on both ad not problem.
I am using Toshiba my granddaughter using Acer, and loves how she can go on youtube and netflex without any problems at all

Yes, abandoning all compatibility with ActiveX, plugins and Java is not a good start! To browse every site, do web-banking etc you need more than just Flash support! Right now you can use Edge only to pass your time surfing the net, check Facebook and watch YouTube. Pretty USELESS for serious work. Let's hope they will start adding features to Edge or they will lose the browser battle!

I don't do web banking on laptop I do that on my phone that my bank set up for me.
I do go on any site I used to with IE11 and have had no problem, I don't use java and as far a I know active x is working ok, as the only thing I uninstalled was IE11 left all other windows programs alone,
I think Microsoft know what they have to do to win the browser battle as they don't Edge to go the same way Internet Explorer went, allowing third party browsers to be better than them.
