I also like that NetGear router too, but dam, they want 400.00 bucks toooo!!! I like the idea of 6 lan ports. most have only 4. My netgear 6300 has 5 and that's an old one.

For routers, look at Home - SmallNetBuilder for reviews on the actual performance of how it compares to others.
I have a wireless router for wireless devices as my wired stuff all have their own static IPs since everything including the Wireless router is directly connected to a Cisco Catalyst 10Gigabit Managed Switch. The wireless router is more of the home grade equipment and not enterprise grade. Netgear has always had poor support as you can see from the FWAG114 which was considered a business grade router, it had so many problems that they never fixed that it was a joke.

Another Firmware Update
I've been using the Asus 66R Router for about 18 months and it has been rock solid. I originally bought it for my son because he was having coverage problems. He eventually went with an Apple network and pluggable ap's so he let me have the Asus. I think he is the one who made the mistake. While reading through this thread it reminded me to check the firmware availability and a new version is out so I will update it tonight.

Long ago there were issues at times doing the firmware upgrades. But, I have done everyone, without a hitch. i trust them completely.
My brother just got the R7500, trying to out do me I guess, LOL (he only has a laptop and 2 desktops). But, it is super nice, but far more complicated. I like the R6200, it is simple and just works.

I have looked at the ASUS AC3200 and the D-Link AC3200 and they are a bit out of my price range at the moment.
As far as the Netgear stuff, I have had little luck with their products. The modem I have is one supplied by my ISP
and is NOT the latest, it is a Netgear CG3000 and it has it's issues from time to time but I can't replace it
The Route I have is also a Netgear, model WNDR4500 V1 and it disappoints me VERY much. I have had to reprogamme it
more than 4 times and the support is next to nothing so, I am going to trying to find a better one.
