Microsoft's only role for driver development is releasing a standards or guidelines for driver certification. If the manufacturers decided not to release a driver for Windows 10 or stopped the development after an initial driver release for whatever reason, it's not Microsoft fault.
If Microsoft would release standards and guidelines in a timely manner and stick with them, I think think most manufacturers could comply. But it's not easy for them to hit a moving and constantly changing target.

They had driver issues with Vista ,Win 7 (not as much ) and probably Windows 8 ( I delibetatl;y skipped that train wreck ) after configiuring a few PC's with windows 8.1 for some folks . I think the vendors are just lazy presumably they should have the code in time .

OTOH maybe they let Windows 10 RTM out of the barn out a little early this time and like you say it may be a moving target

That's what WHQL drivers are for and manufacturers can always opt for non-WHQL route if they can't afford the certification but the whole point of my post above is to pop the bubbles of those who are hoping Microsoft can develop drivers for a certain device that they did not even created themselves. It's hard to develop a driver for a product you do not own, let alone architectures and intellectual properties behind those products that are kept secret by manufacturers, I doubt they will share that secrets to Microsoft easily. It will be bloody mess if Microsoft even try to do it. hahaha

Right MS cant make HDWE drivers for everyone beyond *some* very basic drivers Windows has that would be a train wreck and take a zillion emlpoyees even if they wanted to their having enough trouble de bugging Windows 10 & Edge as it is ! :)

It won't be out today according to Gabe Aul on Twitter. My bet would be on Tuesday if they don't find any showstopping bugs.

    Good Point !

FWIW last weekend this PC updated to Win 10 Insider 10547 pretty much painless other than the known issues still persistant in the test bulds and a little more instability *here* than the last test build , then I updated the other NTFS partition to RTM on this box and helped my son clean installe Win 10 pro and the drivers I downloaded on an HP Elite book after an in place upgrade /activation.

The Elitebook lost the HP sound drivers a couple of days in they had to be to re installed aside from that no major problems (yet) and the other desktop on a Win a 10 in place upgrade has been hanging in there for about 4 wks now without any significant issues .
Glad we have the weekend off !
