WindowsOld.wim file should be your previous install . I belive it is is a bootable file like an ISO or USB . I belive that is where windows 10 executes the temprary go back option .

Your current Windows 10 esd image should be in be in C:\RecoveryImage

Yes I figured the WindowsOld.wim file is my previous build
but there is no such folder as RecoveryImage in C:\

Right........ I have RTM ( previously Win 7 ) and 10547 on the same NTFS hdd on two partitions so if need be I can use RTM and I back up anthing imprtant and DOCS to the RTM partition and it's back up by default anyway .

That being said I use the test builds for the daily driver OS but have RTM if I need it and on some of the earlier test builds there were some things I could do in the stable win 7 build but not on a given testb build .

I'm presduming you looked here C:\$Windows.~BT\Sources in which case it is compresed and would need to be converted to install media and not executable like a .wim file .

OTOH It might be hidden on its own hdd parition { have you looked at your drive partitians,outside of Win syst 32 folder and Old windowes folders } reason I ask is , I think I read something like that but I dont recall the specifics (or the variables) so YMMV or it might be a wild goose chase . ☻

I did look at all the hidden folders and i searched for Install.esd but found nothing :/
I usually make an ISO of the new build right after it is installed but this time I can't find the file so i'm stuck with the dirty updating instead of a clean install
guess I have to download it manually off the internet :/

In dont think you can find an MSDN or ISO download for a rest build at Microsft and a torrent link can be dodgy OTOH you can do a clean install from *within Windows 10* @ settings > update and security > recovery now

OTOH Having done a quite a few test build clean installs vs an in place update on the later builds I havent had any problems with the updates on the test buids or two in place upgrades to RTM vs one clean install on 3 configurations here including this RTM/10547 dual booter .

While a clean istall used to ( always ) be the best rule it may not be as imprtant as it once was . I think the win 10 installers collect garbage better than the earlier ones and you can clean install inside Win 10 anyway now ( if it ain't hosed ) so presumably there is an image somewhere on your hdd probably in its own recovery partition you might be able to do something with .

edit : $Windows.~BT\Sources <<< that's probably the one to look for

Right .... ( I just read ) Win 10 test builds dont include a conventional recovery partition maybe syst 32 directory tree instead ?
I found this :

Notice please: the folder C:\RecoveryImage is the default location of Windows 10 TP install.esd file if you installed the upgrade. If you have moved the file in another location or you have downloaded the installation files but not upgraded yet or if the upgrade has failed, you'll might find the install.esd file in a hidden folder C:\$Windows.~BT\Sources​.
