AFAIK for most people in most uses, memory compression is a very good thing. Application working sets are trimmed of unused memory allocation; the current working set is copied compressed stored in a "store" (shows as a lot of system memory in use by the system process). The apparent effect is to reduce available memory drastically, but in fact what is happening is all but what is currently active is in the store, saving space vs. leaving it uncompressed, and avoiding faulting it to the page file. Boosts performance and recall of applications, in most cases.
In my case, the scripts most of my applications run make it appear as though the system has twenty active uses doing twenty active things, so the whole trim/copy/compress/store activity goes through the roof. That's the churn. The hack virtually eliminates this as it sets the trigger for all that to a far less sensitive level. In my peculiar case, it then works far better.
I did way back when - arranged he and Ballmer to schmooze my City Council - we needed office automation, either a modern client-server net or a new mainframe, and new systems for collecting taxes, running the general ledger - City was $4 Bil a year operation so we got outrageous sweethearts deals as a 'proof of use case' for MS in the public sector ...didn't hurt, Redmond only 200 odd miles away.
